Unplug the cable from your computer, and then do a forced reboot (attempt to turn off your machine through windows, if that does not work then hold the power button on your computer until it turns off). once you've rebooted you should be able to just follow the directions that came with your printer and you will be fine.

Hope this helps you, and please don't forget to rate my solution.

Deskjet F2180 not printing with Mac OS X 10.4.11

When you installed the new software did you delete your old print setup in the printer preferences as it may be conflicting with the new driver. I would delete all appropriate hp F2180 printers from the printer preferences and then install the print software again. When you do that does your printer show up? if it does not show up there could be a problem with the usb cable or the usb port on the back of your mac, swop it into another usb port, if it still does not show up, use a different usb cable. Hope this helps.

I am just installing a new Canon MX7600. It says to not connect the USB cord but I did connect it and forgot to disconnect it before proceeding. When I started the machine I got an error message (5010). I...

Hello there.

It sounds like the printer has partially installed the drivers but because you left the device plugged in, instead of unplugged, it has failed to setup the printer on the computer.

I recommend uninstalling the printer from 'Control Panel' on the Start Menu in Windows. You can uninstall the software from the Add/Remove area of the control panel.

When this has uninstalled completely, unplug the printer USB cable. Shutdown the computer and wait a few moments.

Then , with the USB cable still unplugged, power up the computer and re-insert the printer setup disc.

This will prompt you to install the printer again, then plug in the USB cable when prompted.

Hope this helps.

I'm tring to download the driver software onto my HP laptop but doesn't seem to work. Should I see an icon once this has successfully downloaded?

Yes it should be, but first try to uninstall the drivers, disconnect the printer usb cable connection, turn off the printer. then install again your drivers, but dont connect the usb cable yet, when the software prompts that it should be connect it, connect usb cable then power on the printer, let it run what it should do, dont interrupt any installation, when its done, youre off to go.

Pushing scanner button does nothing, and using software to scan results in a "no scanner" connected error message, even though it is connected and prints just fine.

Is it connected by a USB cable? Try a new data cable and swapping ports. If you have it connected to a print server or USB hub, try a direct connection. Scanners require bi-directional communication with the computer and are more likely to fail to respond to a problem that blocks the signal than the printer. Does the scanner light move and make the usual warm up sounds? Do you have the full software installed or a basic driver from the OS? Do you have the latest software installed?

Disconnect the power cord from both the unit and the wall outlet and the USB cable from both the computer and the printer. Wait at least 10 seconds before reconnecting (resets the all-in-one). Repeat the USB cable removal with the computer and the printer on. Reboot the computer (in case something is locking the scanner in memory).

Check if the scanner shows up as an imaging device. Click My Computer (in some versions of windows), Properties. Click the Device Manager tab. Open Imaging Device. Highlight the all-in-one and click Remove. Try scanning again. (This can be found through the control panel on other versions of Windows.)

I hope this helps.

My windows xp was reloaded and now when rehooking up my 7200 all in one, its not working. All wires are connected, original installation disk was used.

Did you install the printer software and drivers before you connected the printer to the computer by a USB cable? Uninstall any drivers that have already been installed then restart. You can get the drivers again from the web site, http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html?pageDisplay=drivers . Wait until the software asks you to connect to the printer before connecting the USB cable. If you are connecting to a router for an ethernet connection, then that can be cabled together before installing the software.

If the drivers were installed correctly, start diagnosing a problem with the cables. Try new cables, changing ports, and a known working device on the port. When you reinstalled XP, did you include the motherboard drivers specific to your machine (that will have the USB and ethernet drivers)? If you missed those steps, you may need to uninstall the printer before doing that update and then restart.

I hope this helps.

I could not install my Brother DCP-135C MFL-Pro Installation. Because it could not detect USB cable. Please help.

It sounds like you may have plugged it in too early in the installation. Try uninstalling it and completely re-install, but don't connect the usb cable until the installation software tells you.

Have a Dell Inspiration 1501. Installed Lexmark 5200 printer software some time age. Did not try to print until today and cannot get it to print. It will copy. Help

Disconnect printer from computer
Cancel documents in queue
if using a straight USB connection, delete all instances of printer. else remove duplicate printer icons.
Reboot & reconnect printer (swap cables if not detected)

**********************************************************************

If still not working, Uninstall the printer and install the printer again but
doing this:

1) Uninstall the printer,
2) Delete all the printer folders created during the last installation. (Usually in folder "Program Files")
3) In the computer registry (start >> run >> regedit.exe) Delete all printer paths
4) Reboot your computer
5) Re-install the printer again.

This will fix your problem.

I have a hp deskjet f2180 all in one printer scanner copier we have tried to add to my lap top but the lap top does not recognise the hp deskjet f2180 and we dont know what else is compatable with

What operating system are you running on your laptop? This model only supports Windows 2000/XP/Vista and Mac OS/X. Make sure you have installed the printer USB drivers (included on the printer software CD) first. If you are connecting the printer directly to the laptop, all you should then need to do is connect the printer to the mains power, turn it on, and connect the USB cable between the printer and the laptop. If you are connecting to a printer that is connected to another computer, you mus make sure printer sharing is enabled on the computer the printer is physically connected to.

I may be able to provide a better solution if you can provide more information on your Laptop operating system and how the printer will be connected.

Error 0x0000002when trying to install hp photosmartC5100[printer C5180] all in one printer to a toshiba laptop with vista

Seems like its a common problem.
Are you using a usb cable direct connection or a serial to usb

based in microsoft's forum
http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2298899&SiteID=17

Try this:

1. Make sure the only printer connected is your hp printer that you are having problems

2. From your control panel go to system then go to device manager

3. Under universal serial bus controllers, look for usb printer or any usb printing device you see there and uninstall it.

4. Disconnect your usb cable from the printer and your computer

5. Uninstall the driver from the add/remove programs or hp's driver software uninstaller

6. Restart your computer

7. Download the latest driver from hp's website or use the cd installer

8. Plug in the usb cable from both ends and restart again the computer
