Question about RCA Televison & Video
Either your RCA tvs LOT [Line Output Transformer] or its drive transistor [horizontal output transistor is faulty. First replace the Horizontal Output Transistor. It can be located very near to the LOT said above, be screwed onto a metal heat sink to radiate heat away from it while it works. It is a three terminal device, black in colour. Unscrew and desolder it out of the printed circuit board and check whether it has caloctor to emitter or collector to base leak . If it found leaky there is a possiblity of LOT damage. Anyway replace the said transitor first. After replacing, switch on the set for a short period of time, say 3 or 4 seconds only, unplug it from the power socket, and feel the heat effect of the replaced transistor. It may get warm, but not too hot. If it heats up abnormally, surely the LOT said about is faulty, and should be replaced with same type and number.
When selecting LOT, insist on orginal replacement, as substitutions will detereate the picture quality and its life time. If you wants further assistance, feel free to get me through Fixya. OK.
