Question about Hoover Refrigerators

1 Answer

Hoover Contour refrigerator HE383TF. Water is leaking inside the fridge. It appears as a puddle under the vegetable compartment and then leaks onto the floor. I have completely defrosted and then poured warm water through drainage hole in freezer compartment. It immediately ran out into interior bottom of fridge. We have also followed 'use and care' guide check list for leaking water and have varied the control settings. There is less leaking when the temperature guage is set lower but I'm afraid this is unsafe. Could an expert make any further suggestion?

Could be the little red stopper at the back of the fridge on the inside has come off, and this is where the water is coming from, look inside on the lower shelf and you will see a round opening which should have a red stopper in it.

Mw Daewoo fridge freezer FRS-20321BE is leaking water copiously from the refrigerator I cannot see any source for this but puddles form and flow internally under the veg box. Help!

All depends on how much water is collecting. A lot of water indicated a leak from the ice maker. A small amount and it's probably a clogged condensate drain. Here's a YouTube video on a different brand showing a clogged drain, your may be similar (or not), but it might give you an idea as to where to look. Refrigerator dripping water inside FIX

My water dispenser was not working. Tried the defrost trick and still no water. Noticed water under the refrigerator.

The Dispenser supply usually flows through the bottom, inside toward the back to cool the water. If the puddle is near the back. refrigerator section it's probably this water cooling arrangement. Usually. a number of the tubing loops near the back bottom edge. Connections here or tubing itself may leak. It may also be an undetected leak from the Filter housing or the filter is not properly seated or possible filter housing connections. I have had good success with paper towel detection method. Wrap
or paste, tape towel to suspect leak locations. They will soon appear and point to the apparent leak.

Model # TBX18TRBR large puddling leak on floor, think has to do with defroster messing up?? A GE refrigator serial # HG539639

I've got the same fridge with the same problem (believe it or not it was manufactured in 1992 so it's a wonder it's still working).

I also have been able to narrow the problem down to a defrost issue. It appears as the coils are defrosted, the leaking water drains down through the inside of the fridge, pools in the bottom of the fridge (under the bottom drawers), then when that area is full it runs out onto the floor.

I'm still troubleshooting and will post back here within a week with my results.

We have a HE383TF and water is running down the back of the fridge, past the crisper and onto the floor.

your drain is plugged,or if you have a water/ice maker that may have a leak

Leaks water inside, under the veg bins. I am sponging it out daily. Sometimes leaks onto the middle shelf and will freeze up a nice puddle.

there is a tube on some of these model that goes through the back of the fridge and onto the bottom. It is usually up high (if not under the crisper s). If its close to the freezer compartment may have Ice blocking it. If its up high and behind a ceiling cover it could have dirt and gunk stopping it up. try a soda straw and push it in the open part of the hole. see if you get anything out. You say it freezes on the shelf in the fridge compartment (Im betting on Ice blocking the hole because this is way too cold for a refrigerator with veggies. Right?)

Warm water set inside fro a few minutes to hours with the door open or a hair dryer running in it for a few minutes may defrost it and solve the problem then it may come back if there is too much air from the freezer or the thermostat is keeping it running too long.

Hope this helps and if so please rate me accordingly and good luck

Puddles of water in Fridge

you may want to check your door seal, air leaking thru the door seal causes condesation, also make sure that the drain tube is clear under the defrost element in your freezer.

Freezer side leaking!

When you say it's leaking, I guess the temperature is good and if there is a defrost cycle, it appears to be working correctly? Then it's possible there is a drain tube that's meant to allow the defrosted water is run away and that it's blocked. Blocked drain tubes quite often cause water to puddle inside a fridge. You might be able to clean the tube with some kind of chemical cleaner, like White King? or some other kitchen liquid cleaner. Or some people find the ends of the drain tubes and push a length of fine wire up or down the tube. It gets blocked with mold and food particles occasionally. The tube will run from your fridge compartment to a drip tray, usually sitting on top of the fridge compressor.

Here is a quote from:
the dr

http://www.fixya.com/support/t213687-blocked_fridge_drain

"I use a little air pressure to clear drain lines, than pour a diluted solution of water and a little bleach down the hole water should drain fast and not pool."

Note: Beware of sharp edges and damaged electrical connections. There are a number of dangerous areas to work on, inside & under appliances. Good Luck. Dave.

Water is leaking out of the bottom of the interior of our Contour Refrigerator.(HE430TF) It does not appear to be flowing into the defrost overflow tray. I have poked a piece of fexible plastic up the pipe...

Hi Richard,
I don't have any knowledge of your particular model but on mine the water condenses on the cold plate in the fridge compartment and then drips down into a little channel. From there it goes down through a fairly small tube which opens onto a little dish formed on the top of the compressor unit. This unit is warm when running, and the water is supposed to evaporate away into the room.
If water is collecting on the floor of the fridge compartment it is almost certainly due to a blocked drain pipe. If the drainage channel has become cracked this might be another cause of your problem.

One way to check that the drainage pipe is clear is to blow up it (not blow it up !) but that is a pretty yucky job. Alternatively you could pour a little hot water with dishwashing detergent dissolved in it into the drainage channel and check that it comes out onto the compressor top.

I hope this helps, but if not please defer a rating until we have had another think about it. Cheers, D.
