Question about HP (REFURB) HP XW8000 XPP X 2.6GHZ 2P 36GB SCSI 2GB DVD CDRW NVS280 RMKT HP (C39951999BGSP) PC Desktop
Never change BIOS unless:
1: the PC has issues, post them and ask at HP , no here.
2: if HP tells you to flash the BIOS, 99.9 % of time they will not.
where did you get this BIOS> HP, seems not.
BIOS must be carefully matched, too the hardware first.
this pc only supports XP , not W7, per HP official site.
so there is no W7 BIOS for any XW8000, period
so that means you got the bios FROM A VIRUS SITE, OR WORSE.
Did you pay cash for it, ? omg.
what we do is backup the bios , first
so there is a regression path, if it fails. as most do. (wrong bios)
the one and only correct bios is there at HP.
HP Workstation xw8000 System BIOS
JQ.W1.18_1.19 Rev. A3.9 MBMay 31, 2005
this PC came with 3 video cards, not one was a MATROX.
so did you flash it, you never said what you flashed.
here is a list of all possbible flash rom devices.
HP MOBO BIOS
Video cards. HP and 100s of others
DVD drives, vast rom updates.
this PC has over 24 FIRMWARE upgrades,
if you read the HP page, not one is for W7,
infact the last update was 2007, 2 years before w7, was released.
here is your official pages
id recommend getting it all, as HP is about to drop support on it.
the 10year rule , ok>
this one is 2005 PC, so is ending soon.
here are all your drivers, and such, NO MATROX.
here is MATROX
they call it BIOS but its really BIOS extension for video only

your computer don't recognize your nvidia graphic card in PCI Express slot.
you are runing now with computer's integrated graphic card?
if so then you won't have dualview option. in this case it looks for me like you've installed in the wrong way your graphic card.
your NV GeForce 7300 GS has 2 video output?
if yes then you should have the option for 2 monitors on nVIDIA control panel (i have check my nVIDIA GeForce 7600gt and in my case this option is present but is enabled only if i connect the second monitor, so try do so)
you have installed the latest nVIDIA drivers from the official website? http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
check if your video card is corect installed start/run type in " devmgmt.msc ". it will open device manager and under the display adapter tab you should see what video card you use now.

That computer has 3 PCI slots. (I got the specs here: http://www4.dealtime.com/xPF-HP-Compaq-A305W-Intel-Celeron-2-7GHz-256MB-DDR-40GB-HDD-CD-RW-10-100Mbps-LAN-Support-Wind ).
The 6200 is compatible, just make sure it's the PCI version and not PCI-E.

Have you tried a beefier power supply? Between the processor and the video card you have, you may be right at the minimum to run the machine. Ive had similar problems with machines in the past and they have all been resolved with more powerful power supplies. Step up to a 600 watt or higher supply and see how things go. Good luck.

you need to open up the case, and remove the CMOS battery ( a silver wafer-style battery about the size of a quarter) and leave it out for about 10 minutes. put the battery back in and close the case back up and DONT mess with ANYTHING ELSE. if the computer STILL wont boot, then your motherboard is bad, and will need to be replaced through the manufacturer of your PC.

Erm, although the slot is labelled AGP1 (HEY HP Accelerated GRAPHICS Port 1 ???), it is not for a graphics card.
It is intended for an enhanced USB card that adds additional USB ports as well as 12volt and 24volt outputs.
The RP5000 was designed to be a POS (point of sale) unit and the additional ports were for devices such as barcode readers, handscanners and card readers to be plugged into.
