As (1) The discount shop where I purchased the shaver would not take it back and (2) I am not willing to get into the hassle of repair it myself, I have thrown it away; so don't need any help any more in this matter.

I already threw away the shaver to junk-bin and now I withdraw my request to help me out.

The battery is shorting out inside, most likely due to age, and is why it is not accepting a charge.
Sorry to hear you can not return it.

Rather then you buying a new battery or a new charger or taking your entire shave apart wouldn't it be alot easier seeing how it is new to return it this way also it wouldn't cost you anything in replacement parts as well message me back on your decision if you choose to we can take apart your new shaver which would void any warranty as well Thanks again Rick

And I guess you have never heard of the lemon law if you live in the United States allows you to return anything yes even to discount stores or you can contact your local attorney generals office and go through them to get your money back

HELLO: I HAVE A REMINGTON R-9500 IT WONT TURN ON SO I OPENED AND NOTICE THAT ONE CIRCUIT AND THE BATTERIES ARE CORROTED ALSO SOME TIMES THE SHAVER BECOMES EXTREMELY HOT PLEASE HELP ME IS A BRAND NEW

Model R-9500 has been discontinued for several years. It is very possible that the batteries are dead because they are so old. You may need to replace them. You will find the correct battery type at shaveroutlet.com. See link below. You will need 2

http://shaveroutlet.com/shaver-replacement-parts/batteries/shaver-battery-pack-for-most-shavers-p-211.html

To change batteries, remove three screws on back. The third screw is hard to see. To access it, you will need to remove the trimmer from the point that it pivots out from the shaver. Use a small flat screwdriver to gently pry the small plastic pegs from their corresponding sockets on the shaver body. Remove back cover. Inside, remove the metal clip that covers the batteries near the bottom of the shaver. Unsolder the batteries from the wires. Solder in the new batteries.

If you are not able to repair the shaver yourself, shaveroutlet.com can do it for you. See link below
