Question about Tomtom GPS
I assume your Tomtom is password protected and you would like to reset the password. If there is a different problem, feel free to post a clarification.
Tomtom ONE 3rd edition devices sometimes are reported not to accept a valid password. In this case, using a paper clip to press the reset button for 15 seconds helps. It is located behind a small round hole in the back or bottom of the device. Do not put a paper clip in any similar hole in the front or top of the casing --- these have microphones behind and you'd destroy them.
After successful reboot, the password should be accepted again.
Never Tomtom devices do not have a separate reset button. The function here is triggered by switching off the device and then pressing and holding the on switch for 15 seconds (wait for the Tomtom drum sound).
If this does not work for you (i.e. the password is unknown), the answer to your previous inquiry is unfortunately right: a password lock on a Tomtom device is a quite effective means to shut out thieving hands from using your device. Tomtom customer service can remove the lock, but you will need to send in the device along with proof of ownership.
If you set the lock by accident or you just forgot the password you set on purpose, this is all you can do. It is not stored on the normal storage accessible from a computer and can be set or altered only by use of the Tomtom HOME function "Operate My GO" on a PC or Mac.
If you purchased the device second hand, contact the seller. If he cannot tell you, the most likely reason is a stolen device; Tomtom GPS devices taken from parked cars are a most popular target for thieves nowadays. Check if you received a printed manual, all of the accessories (e.g. PC connector cradles, cables) and the original software CD when you bought the device. Stolen devices usually do not have these since the stuff is not kept in the car along with the GPS.
