Hi, I would suggest that you call the acer tech support hotline for assistance and you could ask them for a another copy of the recovery cd. or try again reformating your system and do a clean install using the windows 7 disc that you already have. hope this helps

Cd/dvd drive not displayed in Bios or Device Manager

Your drive has failed and needs to be replaced. The controller in the drive is probably the culprit, the drive is still receiving power but cannot communicate with the computer.

How do I remove the CDROM in an acer 5720

Hello

From what I have found it appears that the CDROM is "integrated" into the laptop - i.e. not in a modular bay that can be easily removed from the unit.

Verify this by looking at the bottom of the laptop. You should see tabs that you push to remove the battery. Look for any other similar tabs on the bottom near the CDROM drive. If there aren't any, then you would have to dis-assemble the laptop to replace the CDROM drive.

Here's the service manual for your laptop.

-----

Just in case I read the question incorrectly - if you are trying to remove a CD disk from the drive, use a straightened paper clip, find the small hole next to the eject button and put the paper clip into the hole until the tray opens.

No Sir, Acer Aspire 4330 comes with different Optical Media Loadings, ( You can see a pdf file here )
Like;
  • DVD/CD-RW combo drive
  • 8X DVD-Super Multi double-layer drive.
But you have the first one, The Combo drive not the super so you can READ both CD's DVD's but can write only CD's.

Hope this removes your dilemma.

Hi,

Have you tried the manufacturers website (i.e. Acer) and looked for the drivers there. They should definitly have them if you make sure you put in the make and model of your computer into the specific drop down boxes.

Acer Aspire 5720-6438 recovery cd/driver cd

if you need drivers, you can download it from www.acerpanam.com.
for recovery cd, i don't think acer have it online, you need to order it from them.

FYI, if you haven't delete the partition in your hdd, you can use alt+f10 to re-install your Operating system and after that, you can create your own recovery cd.

ACER Aspire 5720

Hi All,

We are a workshop in Spain & I have had several problems with "Down grading" to XP. There is essentially one problem which causes an issue with the XP installation & that is if the the BIOS has a "Fixed" sata configuration. By that I mean you cannot change it to some sort of IDE or P-ATA (Symantics). Our current problems are with an Acer 5720 & an HP Pavilion DV9700. The Acer solution is exactly as "kraken3000" had mentioned before:
1. On POST (Powerup). enter BIOS by pressing F2
2. Tab along to the second option "Main"
3. Goto last option "SATA mode" & press enter.
4. From the small selection display select "IDE mode"
5. Save & exit the BIOS. This will then set the SATA mode for XP to be recognise.

DONOT set this back to SATA Mode after you install the XP as it will NOT boot. This setting must be kept untill you "Upgrade" (If ever) to Vista. The HP is another story...

Visit the Acer Panam site & download & install the XP drivers & your good to go...

I hope that this was of help...& good luck folks
