Did you ever get your vsmile fixed? I bought mine in Dec 07 also and haven't used it for a while (actually probably only used it 5 times total) and today I tried to turn it on and it wouldn't turn on. I put new batteries in and no help. Let me know what you ended up doing. thanks

the scooby doo game seems to have broken bothe the vsmile pocket which we have had for more than a year and their new vmotion. Neither will power on since i inserted the game. I can return the vmotion but what can I do with the vsmile?

Unit would not turn on after recharging "rechargeable" battery. I read Vtech instruction regarding replacing batteries and they don't recommend rechargeable batteries in their product. After I replaced, the unit works fine. My only thought is WHY do they sell rechargeable batteries for their unit, if they don't recommend them? They are not inexpensive!

If you remove the battery door on the back above where the batteries are inserted there are 2 little buttons with the batteries removed press both buttons at the same time re-insert the batteries and the game should turn on. I am not sure if this is a system re-start but I find that some of out games are pretty beat and maybe they are causing the game to shut down. If it shuts off I preform this task and try a different game and it usually works it is kind of a pain but at least from what I can tell it must be something in the games themselves - maybe they just wear out after hours of play time.

I had the same problem with both of my V-smiles (I have twins) anyway I did the following after reading on a website and so far both systems have worked fine (It has been over a month now).

Remove the batteries from the system....old down the power button for a minute, reinsert the batteries and it should work. I also cleaned all the connectors on the games we had with alchol pads and let them dry ....like I said so far the game systems are working fine

    Good luck

First, be sure that you have replaced the old batteries with fresh ones (we do not recommend rechargeable batteries in our products).
Second, if your product has a “Reset” button, try using that.
Third, try removing all of the batteries and holding down the "ON" button for about 45 seconds. Then replace the batteries (be sure they are fresh) and try your product again.
If your product still does not work properly, please contact our Consumer Services Department at 800.521.2010 in the U.S. and 877.352.8697 in Canada. They will be able to issue a return authorization and advise you of any replacement/repair fees. Please do not return any merchandise to us without a return authorization. Consumer Services hours in the U.S. are Monday thru Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Central Standard Time and in Canada, Monday thru Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Central Standard Time.

I contacted vtech directly and they helped troublshoot, when it still didn't work they gave me a new one, along with coupons and other stuff!!

I had the same problem...wouldn't work, put in new batteries and it still wouldn't turn on...
I also tried pushing the on button for 45 sec, then inserting new batteries. It works now. We'll see if it lasts! Hopefully.

I did two things for my son's cyber pocket - first I took the batteries out and pressed the buttons inside the battery area for over a minute - put the batteries back in and it didn't work. Took them out again and pressed the on button for over a minute and then put the batteries back in and it worked again. hope this helps

Have you tried cleaning the battery contacts inside the camera? This simple fix (use a fine wire brush, steel wool, or fine sandpaper) clears about 90% of the non-charging and quick shutoff problems with these cameras.

Hi i'm Ryan, have you tried to reset it? Remove the battery cover there should be a small pin hole with a button in it, push it to reset. It worked on my daughters.

My daughter v smile pocket does not work

Sounds like the contacts on the games need to be cleaned. On the game cartridge, push back the little cover and clean the gold colored contacts on both sides. I use a cotton ball or q-tip with alcohol on it. Let it dry before you put it back in the v.smile.

Get an adult male to check jack and see if something was jammed inside, next open it up with screwdriver to see if anything is loose or contact manufacturer since warranty is usually a yr.

V smile pocket problems

Do you still have your receipt? You could try to echange it at the store. Vsmile is coming out with a newer slightly different handheld model you could try. Though, we have a vsmile for the home and a leapster as a handheld game. Which both of my children have loved. Have you tried calling Vtech about the problem? I've had to call before about the home unit and they were very helpful. (Incedently, I have had problems with that, so if you ever do here's a helpful tip: Reset the machine by unplugging EVERY cord and pressing the two front buttons together for one full timed minute! We were having problems with a power issue and this solved it) They may be just as helpful as Leapster's Leap Frog company and send you a replacement! Once on a long car trip my daughter got sick in the car, while playing, so needless to say the game system got it too. And when I called Vtech about what to do, they sent a replacement! Try calling Vtech and see. You never know! Good luck!! :)
