Question about Vtech V.Smile Pocket
My son has had this pocket for less than 1 yr Purchased as a christmas present dec 2007
Today we put in new batteries - he has not used it in a month
It will not turn on at all
no power light no nothing
I cannot figure out how to open the device to check if maybe a wire is loose or something
any advice would be appreciated
If you remove the battery door on the back above where the batteries are inserted there are 2 little buttons with the batteries removed press both buttons at the same time re-insert the batteries and the game should turn on. I am not sure if this is a system re-start but I find that some of out games are pretty beat and maybe they are causing the game to shut down. If it shuts off I preform this task and try a different game and it usually works it is kind of a pain but at least from what I can tell it must be something in the games themselves - maybe they just wear out after hours of play time.

First, be sure that you have replaced the old batteries with fresh ones (we do not recommend rechargeable batteries in our products).
Second, if your product has a “Reset” button, try using that.
Third, try removing all of the batteries and holding down the "ON" button for about 45 seconds. Then replace the batteries (be sure they are fresh) and try your product again.
If your product still does not work properly, please contact our Consumer Services Department at 800.521.2010 in the U.S. and 877.352.8697 in Canada. They will be able to issue a return authorization and advise you of any replacement/repair fees. Please do not return any merchandise to us without a return authorization. I had the same problem...wouldn't work, put in new batteries and it still wouldn't turn on...
I also tried pushing the on button for 45 sec, then inserting new batteries. It works now. We'll see if it lasts! Hopefully.
