have you tried to load the computer in safe mode? tap f8 key after turning on, and when it presents you with options choose safe mode with networking. if it loads just fine, then you need to look at recently installed software/drivers to see what has changed since the last time it worked. an easy way to do this is to hit the windows key and the R key at the same time and when presented with a dialog box type 'eventvwr' and go to system. that should tell you all the latest changes

Step 1:

The memory of your computer was cannot support the system that you load. Just upgrade the memory or else replace of higher memory.

Step 2:

Just load operating system that your used previously. Because that was the compatible system that they used.

Computer Freezes unless pressure applied

With the laptop turned off, take out the hard drive completely from the laptop and then reseat it back into its slot and make sure its nice and snug.

Then go ahead and turn it on and see it will run without freezing on you and having to apply pressure on the keyboard.

If that doesn't work then disconnect the keyboard and see if it will run smoothly without the keyboard. If it does then you might have a stuck key on the keyboard that is making the unit freeze so you might have to replace the keyboard.

Reset your bios settings to "Bios defaults", then disable power management.

I keep losing my connection - IBM Thinkpad t42

Are you using IBM SW or Windows to manage the wireless? Occassionally, the IBM SW has issues with certain model routers and encyrption types.

You can also try unchecking the "Allow Computer to turn this device off to save power" in the adapter properties and

Adjusting the power on the wireless device to the max. By default IBM sets it in the middle to conserve power.

Try going to Safe Mode. Normally you press F8 when you start the computer. When in Safe Mode, click Start -> Run then type msconfig. On the first tab, click on Diagnostic Startup. Apply, close and reboot the computer to Normal Mode. Lockups during startup are caused by startup programs.
