A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

I have a Mitac P520 notebook and it has a virus on it from the internet even though it has anti-virus software that doesn?t work. How do I master reset my notebook?

There isn't an easy Master Reset. If burim09 suugestion of malwrebytes doesn't work you have a couple more options.
Use Windows system restore to go back to an earlier version of installed software.
Final restort, you'll need to reinstall Windows and Download the drivers. You don't seem to be able to get the drivers from Mio or Mitac. However, the correct drivers are available at

I turn on my device and it only loads up the start page and then hangs there .......

First try a reset... then try turning off the little power switch next to the reset, then turn it back on. If none of this works, your firmware is likely corrupted... then: You either need to return it to Mitac or locate (Google) & flash the firmware file into the unit as follows:

Connect the mio p550 to PC
1.put the Button of the PDA in ON position
2. hold the joystick downward and press the reset button
3.choose "Image Upgrade tools"
4.choose "0=Image by USB"
5.intall the usb driver (PC require the drivers). The driver in the
folder "USB driver" that comes with the firmware file. the software "dnw5.0e" (also comes with the firmware package).
7.(if you want to make a test of connection USB, click the "USB
port/Status". If all is ok go to step 8
8. click "USB port/transmitted" and to show the way of the file
"MioP550 - Osc260A R05_P09.nb0" the reset button to restart the mio p550.

You don't get asked for your password during hard reset.
Did you really try the hard reset procedure described above?

From inside Tomtom, have you tried "change preferences" then scroll through to "show GPS status" then "configure" select "Other Cable NMEA GPS" select "Done" for GPS baud rate of 4800. Now select "Serial Cable on SP2 and then "Done"
Hope it helps. Philpot
