Scanner making clicking noise

Hi, you solved a problem - scanner making clicking noise.
My scanner is doing the exact same thing, except when I dismantled it, I cannot find any trace of a flat tab or a small light...

Please reply with a more detailed description of what I'm supposed to do.
Thanks very much, you legend!

It's a HP Officejet 6110

Thisis what I found in a scanner-copier. The moving bar of the scanner hasa flat tab that fits into a slot that has a very small light in it.That tells the bar to stop. When dust collects in the slot area, thelight can't see the tab, and the bar bangs into the end, and the beltjumps and makes noise.. Blow out the dust.

I just got that scanner back, L1 error code on a Sharp copier. Means the scanner can't move quick enough to satisfy the specs.. Removed the lock, not needed. Oiled the bar, scanner works ok now. Will look for Triflon lubricant, my favorite. Will check with local repair shop for recommended lubes. That light sensor switch is not necessarily on your unit, but I see them on a lot of machines. Sometimes it's just a little tab or button, hard to find. Check the freedom of your scanner bar. Temporarily loosen the drive if you can. The bar must move freely.

Hi,
To work around this problem, you must create a Windows Firewall exception for TCP port 21. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type firewall.cpl, and then click OK.
  2. In the Windows Firewall dialog box, click the Exceptions tab, and then click Add Port.
  3. In the Add a Port dialog box, type Scanner and Camera Wizard in the Name: text box.
  4. In the Port number: text box, type 21.
  5. Click TCP, and then click OK.
Restart the computer and now you should be able to scan.
Cheers.!!!

The scanner doesn't read the barcodes anymore and makes a weird noise while we're using it. is there anything I can do to solve the inconvenience immediatly? thanks

We have had the problem, that the scanner generated a crazy sound after it dropped onto the concrete floor. I think the buzzer came loose. Best thing to do on a short time basis is to disable the beep via the manual.
You can find the manual here:

You simply got the wrong driver. You got avery similar one but not the exact one you needed. You can find the correct driver online very easy. Once you do save it where you can find it. Then go in to you device manager and click on your scanner it will give you the option to update driver do this with the correct one, restart your computer and you good to go.

Clicking noise and will not print.

Hi Folks

My 2410 had the same problem and is now 100% functional again

Here is the Solution:
Go to hp.com
at search look for exactly:
!psc 2410 how to clean the scanner"
the first hit is the right one.

There is a complete description, how to do.

The problem seems to be, that the scanner can't calibrate on the right optical marker (inner backsite of the scanner glas) and the motor still retries to move the scanner behind this marker what causes the noise.

Hope it willhelp you
regards,
Michael

Problem with new set

Sounds like the lock-switch is in the locked position. This is on the bottom of the scanner. Move the lock-switch back and forth a few times and then leave it in the unlock posotion. Try scanning again.

If you are scanning a book, it may be too heavy and putting enough pressure on the scanner that it is preventing the scan head from moving fully. Try scanning with nothing on the glass to see if it does the same thing.

CanoScan 5000F - Scanner bar is stuck

hi all;
i fixed it by taking the thing apart, pushing the scanner head (the block that is stuck-- that normally moves) back to the starting position. Make sure its snug at the end, a little bit off and you'll be putting it have to take it apart and back together a second time. There's a mirco swtich in there somewhere, and you need to make sure its pressed...
reconstruct, and hey presto, a working scanner! this also worked for my epson 1250 that got stuck once.
Easy as a section of gateaux.
