Question about LG Dryers

1 Answer

My dryer seems too loud for such a nice product. It makes a banging sound at a faster rhythm than the turning of the drum would indicate. It has nothing to do with the clothes inside because it does it all the time with any clothing load I use. Is this a common complaint, or could there be something wrong with my dryer?

Thanks for the general info about dryer noises, but I'm more interested to know how much noise is acceptable or not for this particular LG dryer. It may be normal to have this thumping sound. I don't know because I don't have a lot of experience with different dryers. I think I will call the LG people and let them listen to my dryer over the phone. If they say it isn't normal then I will start down your list of things to check and of course pay you for your information. Thanks!

    Hi,

There is no way that a dryer should be thumping and banging...the faster rythm indicates that the part is turning many times faster then the drum which would have to be a support roller of the belt idler pulley that puts tension on the belt...

If you are hearing those distinct noises then you have a part looking at imintent failure...

Why is my tumble dryer making a loud banging noise when on its a white knight model CL3A

Most of the time a tumble dryer will work like a dream but, as with all appliances, occasionally there will be technical problems.
If your tumble dryer is making a banging, whining (or other strange noise) it's best to diagnose and sort out the problem. It could be the result of a number of things, but what you certainly don't want to do is ignore it.
Here are the most common reasons for your tumble dryer making odd noises.
Coins and keys
One of the most common reasons for a banging, rattling or clanking is keys or coins left in pockets - so always check them before you put any clothes in the tumble dryer. More often than not you won't hear anything until the dryer cycle is in full spin.
Uneven surfaces
If the dryer is vibrating or shaking during spinning, check to make sure the dryer's sitting on a level surface. If it's fitted with height adjusters on the front legs, adjust them accordingly to ensure the machine is level as this will often reduce or eliminate the banging sound.
Drum bearings
If the tumble dryer is noisy when its turning and the whole appliance is shaking and rumbling, it could be indicative of a problem with the drum bearings, which help the wheels turn freely and easily.
The drum
If the banging noise is continuous when the drum is turning then it might be problem with the drum itself. If the noise is a metallic one, it could be the result of the drum scraping on something inside the machine. You could always check the drum visually for any marks or dents.
Motor bearings
If the tumble dryer is emitting a high-pitched screaming or whining noise it could be a sign that the motor bearings are wearing out.
Tension pulley wheels
If there's a squeaking noise coming from the dryer it could be the result of wear on the tension pulley wheels. This occurs more frequently on older models...or try this link..

I have p 1508 Make noisy sound and move like about to explode But when work without cloth nothing So what is the problem

Hello. If the dryer is making a loud "banging" sound with clothes in it, the problem might very well be a worn out drum support roller. I need the complete model number to help you accurately. Most dryers have 4 drum support rollers--2 mounted on the back wall and 2 mounted on the front bulkhead. They generally are made of thick rubber with a machined steel core--polished so it glides smoothly on a matching machined shaft. The rubber can become worn and develop a flat area that "thumps" loudly. If the drum is empty, it may just "skip over" this damaged roller area. Now, if the dryer is squealing loudly, this is a good indicator of a bound-up idler pulley. It's a spring-tensioned pulley that the drum belt rides on to keep it tightly in contact with the drum to make it spin. Hair, lint, other debris often gets in-between the roller and shaft, causing it to bind up and wear on the belt--also causing a loud squealing sound. Next, a loud sound could be caused by an object getting caught in the blower housing and binding up the fan which pushes hot air. Socks, underwear, small pieces of clothing, etc. are NOTORIOUS for causing this! Check the blower for obstructions. I hope this helps you!

Drum makes loud banging noise.

Maybe the heat in your dryer over time has melted weak glue and loose components are hitting against the drum

Westinghouse LD 605E Sensor Dryer It makes a loud banging noise when turning. Drum seems to be loose. Any ideas?

According to your description listed your rollers to the drum have failed. Your rollers support the drum and weight of clothes during rotation. They are not difficult to replace if your mechanically inclined. The model number of the unit seems to be incorrect, I am unable to direct you with parts or directions without more information.

Good Luck

When drying clothes, there is a loud banging noise, almost like if the clasp to overalls is hitting the inside of the dryer. Right now I am drying towels, so there is nothing metal or hard that could be...

Hi,

Check all exposed screws, and make sure they are tight. Loose cabinet screws may cause a banging sound. Make sure nothing is loose inside the drum. Remove the lint trap and look below the lint trap holder for any loose items that may have slipped through the cracks.
Check to see if the drum is supported on wheels or rollers. Sometimes these can wear and require replacement.

Good luck and have a nice day

Dryer is making a loud banging noise.

there are bushings or rollers at the front of the drum that do wear out this will cause the thumping as it turns. A local appliance repair place may be able to source out new guides for you.

My White Knight sensordry tumbledryer has been making a loud banging noise, (like there are shoes banging about). Is it a bearing problem? Is it a problem that i can fix?

sounds like the bearing carrier has come away from the drum-same as mine, seems to part of the drum
so not available seperately-its riveted on not bolted, mine has deformed and enlarged the rivet holes in the drum so a repair dosent seem practicle if yours hasnt chewed itself up then you may be able to replace the rivets with nuts and bolts and maybe change the bushing kit for about 6 quid
