Question about Cameras

1 Answer

I have an Olympus SP-550UZ digital camera. It was dropped onto the floor & now the LCD screen & the view finder are black. I took all the screws out of the back to repair it, but the back panel will not come off. I do not have any covered screws around the view finder. There is a screw under the flash which I can't get to. Any suggestions?

There's a covered screw in the center of the adjustment knob on the view finder.
Probably that's the one holding the back.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

If the problem is dust, you can try to blow it away. Else, take the camera to a repair shop, the sensor is very sensitive and can easily be destroyed...
Good luck! :)

White line on viewing screen

If the line is also on your photos it is a bad censor assembly, if the line is just on the LCD than the LCD is faulty. Either way you are looking at a trip to the repair shop.

I have a problem with power on Olympus SP-550UZ

Try using regular batteries. I did with my camera and seems I can go a lot longer on the regular batteries verses the re-chargable ones

When I turn the camera on, the view finder is blank or black. When I click to take a picture, it goes through the motions, but the picture is blank/black. I can view my saved photos on the memory card...

Sounds like a bad CCD sensor. I've seen the same problem in several brands of digital cameras (Canon & Sony). Better off replacing rather than repairing.
