Question about JVC AM FM CD DET FACE CAR STEREO

1 Answer

Hi I have just installed my now JVC KD-R616 and stumped on two issues, one is the orange wire with white stripe from the deck the install sheet says wire to car light control switch, what is its purpose? is it needed ? and where does it get wired to? is it the dome/door light or the dash lights? I only have two wires remaining in the 95 NJ pajero's harness and both say do not use in this diagram http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/Mitsubishi-Wiring.pdf my harness is the bottom one and i have a extra wire (black white stripe) in position H and a green one with a stripe in location F and both these say do not use... the green one have been cut off the harness and its taped up (not by me) and the black one is showing continuity but not sure what this is.... the second problem (not sure if its related to this orange wire is the deck is resetting to default when car is switched off now i have check and the constant wire in the pajero and its defiantly constant and double checked my wiring and its connected to the yellow on the deck and Ive tested this on both sides of my wiring and still getting continuity.. im stumped! help would be much appreciated thank you :)

The orange light to the light control is usually for the face/display dimmer. When the headlights are on it tells the display to dim so as not to be too bright while driving. It can go to just about any interior light that is on when the headlights are switched on. Ashtray light is usually the easiest. As for the continuity on the constant/memory wire. It has to be constant with the key off as if connected directly to the battery. Turn the key off and check for a blank accessory location in the fuse box with a test light. If hooked to that, be sure to install an in line fuse in an accessible location. The black wire may very well be the memory wire from the original radio.
I hope I've helped. If so please rate my assistance and leave a testimonial.

Jvc kd-hdr1

Most wiring now is standard colors....red=ignition(goes to a switched power source...Yellow=battery...goes to a hot all the time(even with key off)...black=ground...white=left front speaker positive...white w/blk stripe=left front speaker negative...gray=right front spkr +...gray/ blk=right front spkr - ...green=rear left +....green/blk rear left - ...violet=right rear +...violet/blk= right rear - ...light blue or blue with a stripe is the remote turn on lead either for an amplifier or power antenna...some radios have an orange/ with white stripe that connects to your parking light dimmer circuit to dim the radio light with the dash lights....and then you should have the antenna plug and possibly rca outputs that go to an external amp

Cd stero wiring help

Hi,

To my knowledge, the illumination wire need not be connected to the JVC KD-G230. Further, other than the 8 speaker wires, the JVC has only:
  • black - body ground;
  • yellow - always on B+12
  • red - ACC/IGN B+12
  • blue w/ white stripe - external amp trigger and/or power antenna
Perhaps this might be of further help to you.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Wiring a new radio in 1991 ford explorer

1991 Ford Explorer XLT Radio and Speaker Wire Colors
Pulled out the stock radio and found two plugs on the back of it. One plug had 7 wires (Power, Dimmer, Amp etc.) and one had 8 (Speakers).
7 wire plug (I could see these wires immediately from the plug):
Car Radio Battery Constant 12v+ wire = Light Green w/ Yellow Stripe
Car Radio Ground Wire = Black
Car Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ wire = Yellow w/ Black Stripe
Car Radio Dimmer Wire = Light Blue w/ Red Stripe
Car Radio Illumination Wire = Orange w/ Black Stripe
?? Don't know ?? Red Wire (No power to wire Constant or Accessory)
Car Radio Amp Wire = Blue
8 Wire Plug (Wires were wrapped in a grey outer sleeve, had to cut sleeve to get to wires.):
Right Front:
White w/ Green Stripe (+)
Brown (no stripe) (-)
Right Rear:
Purple w/ White Stripe (+)
Light Blue (no stripe) (-)
Left Front:
Light Green (no stripe) (+)
White w/ Orange Stripe (-)
Left Rear:
Light Blue w/ Black Stripe (+)
Yellow (no stripe) (-)
Speaker Wires (found at the individual speakers in the doors)
Right Front:
White w/ Green Stripe (+)
Green w/ Orange Stripe (-)
Right Rear:
Orange w/ Red Stripe (+)
Black w/ White Stripe (-)
Left Front:
Orange w/ Green Stripe (+)

Hope this helps. I spent hours looking for the correct color key and this one works for my '91 Explorer.
