Question about Acer Computers & Internet

1 Answer

My second new Acer Aspire 4741G keeps collapsing with BSOD error STOP: 0x0000007F with first parameter 0x0000000000000008 which I think is "Double Fault" - according to MS's KB137539 . I am running Win7 (Home). The fault seems to occur mostly when the WiFi is operating, and then mostly within range of my iMac (but that may only be an unrelated coincidence). So far, with the WiFi off, there is no problem (yet). My first As[ire 4741G did the same thing, but the store replaced it no problems. Have I run into an endemic hardware problem? Or, might there be a drive issue - with a solution? Any guidance would be most appreciated.

Definetly not an inverter issue. you would do well to replace the screen.

SOURCE: DVD/CD-ROM drive missing

Problem with missing dvd-drive with Acer 5101 solved.
Problem was that depending on boot, even bios couldn?t detect dvd-drive. I
opened my laptop and found out that there were one small screw that wasn?t
connected to anywhere. I opened the screw that locks dvd-drive in to 2.5? slot. In the back of the
dvd-drive is L- shaped peace of metal. One of it?s screws were already dropped
and 2 that were left were loose. I tightened those screws, but drive back and
got my laptop working fine.

The Microsoft virtual wifi miniport adapter is a new feature in Windows 7, Wireless Hosted Network:

About the Wireless Hosted Network

This device is just a virtual device and it should not affect connecting the wireless network with the physical wireless adapter.

Hence, I’d suggest you to uninstall and re-install only the wireless network adapter drivers from Device manager and check if that fixes the issue.

Before uninstalling the drivers from the device manager, make sure you have a backup of the installation files.

It’s a good idea to create a restore point before uninstalling the drivers. A restore point is a representation of a stored state of your computer's system files. You can use a restore point to restore your computer's system files to an earlier point in time. Restore points are automatically created by System Restore weekly and when System Restore detects the beginning of a change to your computer, such as when you install a program or a driver.

Create a restore point
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Create-a-restore-point

Visit the manufacturer’s website, download the latest wireless drivers and save it on your hard disk.

To uninstall the wireless connection from Device Manager,

1. Click Start, type Device Manager in the Start search box and hit Enter.
2. Locate Network adapters and expand the same.
3. Select the wireless connection, right-click and select Uninstall.
4. Restart the computer, if prompted.

Drivers should get installed automatically after restarting the computer.

Now, you may install the latest wireless drivers and check if that fixes the issue.

Hope this helps

At this point I would suggest to try a full system restore as the sytem files might be corrupted. You can restore the computer back to factory default,to do so, follow the below steps:

Turn Off the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e Alt+f10, it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore and follow onscreen instruction. NOTE: This will erase all the datas on the computer.

Blue sreen error in my acer laptop

go into bios, set it to defaults then install. try a fress partition, delete the old one and create a new one, there might possibly be artefacts from a previous bad install. I would test memory/hard isk for errors before I started installation if it has been running badly, problems here might be causing the BS, as might motherboard issues

Good Luck with it

You can try using only 1 memory module if system has 2, or try reseating if it only has one. If system works normally with 1 module, replace the other

Acer aspire 5572 problem

your problem is called BSOD (blue screen of death).
many thing can cause this problem.
most common thing that cause BSOD are Operating system, memory and harddrive.
sometime motherboard+cpu can cause BSOD too, but not as often as memory+hdd+OS.
you should re-installed it first, if you still have BSOD,
ask your technician to check hdd and memory, if they can check motherboard + cpu, it would be good for you,

BSOD on a acer 5100 laptop

When you get the BSOD it should provide a number like...
STOP: 0x00000050
Google this number and it will usually provide an answer.
