Pioneer cd/dvd player Why do not read the disc? just keep loading but don't play none of the discs. (cd or dvd)

You might have to go inside and clean the lazer unit lens, but try a lens cleaning disc first.

Most games will not load on our Wii. Only one will load -- Wii Music. We just bought a new disc (so no damage issues) and even it will not load. Is there a cleaner disk for the wii system? Would that help?...

I do NOT recommend using any cleaner other than the 1st party Wii Lens Cleaning Kit. The Wii Lens Cleaning Kit can either be purchased online, or at your local game store. Though a lens cleaning kit may help, chances are that your disc reader is damaged or broken. If a disc cleaning kit will not work and the problem persists, I recommend calling Nintendo Customer Service and setting up a repair. You can send in your Wii and have them repair it for a price (for free if you still have your warranty).
Thanks for using FixYa!

I keep getting the message E-04 which I know means the disc is dirty but I have cleaned discs and put different discs in. Sometimes it will play although mostly it goes through all the discs and comes up...

Hello lynda733,

It's possible that the laser lens itself is contaminated and needs cleaning. I'd recommend getting a CD cleaning disc and load and eject it a few times. A cleaning disc looks like any CD but with a tiny brush on it that directly contacts the lens to remove contaminants. It a cleaning disc does not work, you probably need to take your vehicle to a professional car audio shop and have them service the unit.

Hope this helps.

Every disc i insert into mschine takes ages to load and then says disc error, even movies I have previously watched on this machine

That happens when the lens are dirty or defective.

You can try using a cleaner DVD to clean the lens, that may not work.

Being the unit only 6 months old this is probably a fault concerning the lens, rather than dirt and dust on the lens.

I think the best thing to do is contacting Pioneer at the number listed on the owner manual, since there is one year factory warranty cover on all Pioneer products.

Toshiba D-VR4 DVD recorder/VCR player

you can get the cleaning disc at any electronic store or even at some other stores like drug stores and even at the dollar store , but if the laser lens is probably to dirty to even see that disc if your player will not even read a music disc, have you tried a music disc? can it read it ? if so the cleaning disc will work.
if not then taking the player apart and manually cleaning the lens will be required

Loading disc

First try to clean the laser lens. There are disc's you can buy for that purpose. They a tiny little area on the disc that has some very fine brushes that will clean the lens somewhat. It is not as good as having a technician clean it, but it can help.

Sounds like you may have a bad laser pick up or spindle motor, sometimes it can even be something in the servo circuit for the laser or the dsp ic.

since it loads everything good, the only thing you can do to ensure it is not something simple is to make sure the disc's are not loaded the wrong way and they are clean and scratch free as possible. Sometimes a fingerprint or scratch on a disc on the inner most part of a disc will keep it from being able to be played. That is the area the TOC (table of content) is located. If the laser can't read that area, it can't read any of the disc.

Hope this was helpful, I have repaired lots of cd changers and players over the last 15 years and if it is not something simple, then it will need to be serviced.

Is the Disc inserted UPSIDE DOWN? Turn it over. Are the Lens Dirty? Clean them. Are Your DISC's Dirty Or Damaged? Get one that is Clean And NOT Damaged.

DVD won't play

Is this happens on every disc? The NO PLAY message appears when "The disc that this unit cannot play is loaded (from the user guide)". Maybe it's something to do with the DVD region? If you sure that the system supports the disc's format.. And it won't play other discs... try to clean the CD lens. CD lens cleaning discs: Every CD, stereo equipment, department, discount, store - and even sidewalk venders - carries CD lens cleaning discs. Are they of any value? Can they cause damage? I generally don't consider CD lens cleaning discs to be of much value for preventive maintenance since they may just move the crud around. However, for pure non-greasy dust (no tobacco smoke and no cooking grease), they may not hurt and could even do a good enough job to put off a proper cleaning for a while longer. However, it's also possible they will ruin the lens. Consider that the worst thing to do to a precision optical surface is to wipe it with a dry cloth as this is likely to scratch the surface as it rubs the dust over it. To the lens, a speck of dust is like a boulder. Once the lens is scratched, replacement of the entire optical pickup is the only remedy. And, since there are absolutely no sorts of standards for these things, it is possible for a really poorly designed cleaning disc to damage the lens even if the dust itself is non-abrasive. In addition, if the cleaning disc doesn't look like a CD to the optical pickup or disc-in sensor, the lens it may not even spin. So, the drawer closes, the drawer opens, and NOTHING has been accomplished! (But at least no damage will be done.) As if this isn't enough, NEVER put one into a high-X CDROM (DVD player or DVDROM drive). The high speed rotation may cause the cleaning disc and/or player/drive to self destruct. And, don't try a cleaning disc on an automotive CD player that sucks in the disk - it will get stuck.
