Question about GE Profile JT912 Electric Single Oven
I have a GE profile wall oven. The light comes on by itself. Then goes off by itself. When you try to turn it off the key pad does nothing. You can not turn anything off or on.
Wait a few minutes and you get the f7 alarm.
Right now I can not do anything with it. But wait a few minutes and the light will come back on. Then the f7 again.
Help. The extended warranty expired in May. But I am able to purchase another extended warranty if I hurry as they are giving me a 90 grace period.
Do I get the warranty or can I fix it myself.
I tried putting in the business card in the panel slot but no luck.
Had the exact same problem. Following instructions from another post on a similar problem I pulled the range. Removed the cover from the top of the electrical connections, pulled the plastic ribbon connector which connects the touch panel with the rest of the electronics. Used an eraser to clean the contact points on the ribbon connector. For some reason there appears to be a fairly heavy deposit of a blackish residue on the contact points... perhaps from the smoke generated during self cleaning. Reinstalled the ribbon connector and so far the problem has not reoccurred.

I have the SAME exact problem with my GE Profile Wall oven. I googled the issue and found your posting. It's such a shame that this is a defect with this expensive oven!!
