The two power leads going to the motor should have 120v to it on call for heat. If no power check for low volt control fuse. If good would say a bad control board.

My thermostat will start the furnace, but the fan will not work.

If it's an older forced air unit furnace, it's likely the inducer motor has malfunctioned. They usually make a lot of noise before they fail, but occasionally they just stop working without warning.

Hello there, I have a Goodman GMH951155DXAC furnace that I got in 2007. I have the following problem for the last 4 years: When the thermostat calls for heat the induced draft motor comes on and 30-40...

With furnace OFF ,Disconnect the top of the hose that leads to the
Bottom of Daft inducer Box, Now blow into it water will come out
of the drain hoses "condensation " this will shut the unit down if not drained. There must be a Trap on the side of the Furnace with water in it , to have positive presure to suck out condensation. This will fix problem. some installers forget to install this Trap that comes with Unit.....!!!! A little item
that will shut the whole system DOWN. :o)

I have an 11 year old natural gas forced air furnace--a Goodman GMPN100-4 Rev B, which is 100K BTU and 92% efficient which was working fine at the end of last winter. I went to turn it on for the first...

You are correct. If the inducer motor is warm, but not running, it has seized up. If you replace this yourself, I also suggest that when you replace the inducer fan, check to make sure the secondary heat exchanger isn't clogged, or the condensate drain(s). If you have an HVAC contractor replace it, he should do this for you. It shouldn't run more than $350, to have it replaced and he can check for clogs (The price I'm quoting is for standard hours).

You can check this yourself by running the inducer fan without it being attached to the furnace, then attaching it to the furnace. If you notice a significant reduction in airflow, then you have a clogged secondary heat exchanger. I've run across this situation before on this particular model. The owner recenly replaced the inducer motor, but couldn't figure out why he was still having problems. I suspect the clogged heat exchanger contributed to the inducer motor to failing previously, and feel It would definitely be worth checking while you have the fan removed to help eliminate any future problems that could result from this, including heat exchanger failure. The manufacturer of this unit actually recommends you clean the secondary heat exchanger every year, but this is overkill if your furnace was installed and set up properly. I'd recommend doing it every 10 years and you're at that mark now. Instructions on how to do this are in the manual for this unit if you have it. Otherwise, e-mail me at wheels38_97@yahoo.com and I can send you a copy.

Finally, check the limit and flame roll out switches after replacing, as they could have tripped when the motor failed.

Gas Furnace will not start when outside temperature rises to 50F

There is a pressure switch near your draft inducer motor that needs to close when draft inducer motor is running. Verify that the switch is closing. If it is not closing, you might have a problem with either the switch itself, or there could be some sort of blockage in your flue. I would start with the switch first. This switch has to "prove" before it will allow anything else to happen. The loud click could be from your switch or your gas valve. If the switch is closing and nothing else is happening, it could be a problem with your gas valve or HSI.

Draft inducer runs continuously, unless i turn the furnace off at the fused switch on the furnace. Turning the Honeywell thermostat to the off position does nothing to stop it, nor does removing the front...

Sounds like some one needs a new induce draft fan relay, if relay is located on the main control board you have to replace control board, follow wires from inducer motor and you will find the relay. I could help you more if i knew model # and serial # of the furnace, Good luck.

Bryant furnance clicking, won't fire

try checking the pressure sensing switch,it has a tube that should run somewhere close to the inducer fan.sometimes this hose fills with liquids, and makes the units act funny.I don't know if you have a condensing unit or what.the furnace wont try to light if it cant tell the inducer motor is running.any induced draft unit will work this way.you can also do a temp. bypass of the pressure switch to make sure the contacts on it are closing just be sure your inducer fan is running, and you cant leave it like that its just a test.that is a safety feature you really need.

Heat not coming on carrier gas pack code 31

code 31 indicates pressure switch did not close or reopened during the heat cycle....1st thing to check is the inducer motor,,this is a small motor that turns a small blower wheel that draws the exhaust gases through the furnace and blows them into the vent pipe....1st locate the inducer assembly,,most easily identified by the small plastic fan blade that cools the inducer motor as it runs..1st turn off tstat and turn off furnace power switch..then turn on furnace switch, then set tstat to heat, set the temp above room temp by 5 degrees...remove the furnace front cover, locate the inducer motor,,if it isnt turning, but is warm or hot after a minute or so,likely the inducer motor is bad..if it isnt turning and isnt warm after 1 minute, then likely the main control board is bad,,not turning the inducer motor when it should,,,,,if the inducer motor is running,,then the pressure switch isnt closing,, could be a bad pressure switch but more likely there is a problem with the venting...some possible problems that would cause the pressure switch not to close in an 80% eff furnace [metal vent pipe] are: [1] a blockage in the vent pipe, base of chimney, dead bird at the furnace where vent connects to furnace or down inside the inducer assy, accessed by removing vent pipe from furnace....if all clear the chimney could be blocked up inside,,is the draft good when vent is removed from base of chimney?..if furnace is a 90%+ type [pvc plastic vent pipe],,then check the intake pipe at the furnace by removing it where it attaches to top of furnace..is the intake clogged with anything?..then check the intake and exhaust pipes outside for blockages,,including ice/frost/snow at the exhaust pipe outlet..

Janitrol/Goodman GMP075-3 Draft Inducer Fan Won't come on

most forced draft fans are powered by 120 volts . close to the fan is usually a plug that unsnaps. create a call for heat after turning off to clear safetys and see if your getting 120 to fan on initial call for heat. if you are then fan draft motor is bad, usually sold as an entire assembly replace exact as it came out. sequence of operation is..... stat calls for heat via common and white wire to furnace , 24 volts. ......board sences call and sends 120 volts to forced draft ........ motor runs and creates pressure on proofing switch,....... switch closes 24 to board and tells it draft fan is on......... board then energizes ignitor,....... after ignitior glows gas valve is opened and burner lights ........ either ignitor or seperate sensor rod tells board the burner lit........ and a few minutes later the fan comes on and hot air is blown out. if a step is missed or doesn't proof the furnace either trys up to three times to light or locks out. turning off power usually resets safetys and it will resume attempts to lite normally.
