Question about Canon PowerShot SX130 IS Digital Camera

2 Answers

The SX 130 is camera is brand new. With fresh batteries (NIMH 1,2 v) the battery warning light activates after just a couple of minutes of going through the on sceen camera menus. I checked the batteries in another camera and they read fully charged and a voltmeter did likewise. Is there a way to reset the threshold for this prematurely activating warning light?

I use Eneloop batteries from Amazon; the battery warning disappears, and I get over 300 shots per set of batteries

There is a fault n the battery compartment. There is nothing to do with the settings. No such options.
Clean your battery compartment with a cotton swab and then try. Else take it back to a service center with your warranty card.

When using brand new fully charged batteries. After only 2/3 minutes use, the camera displays the red battery warning icon and then shuts down,

Some batteries, although the correct nominal voltage for the camera, are not powerful enough for continued use. I have found the best solution is to use rechargeable NiMH batteries of at least 2100 MaH, preferably 2500 MaH.

I have loaded 4 new AA batteries and try to take a pic and "battery empty' appears in scrren and will not take a picture.

Be sure to have real fresh alkaline AA of fresh recharged NiMh batteries.

Good rechargeable batteries are Sanyo ENELOOP NiMh batteries, which have a very, very low own discharge. Some other brands have them too.

I just purchase the Canon Power shot SX 130. Batteries are new and after a few days the camera batery light is flashing and I can't take any pictures the camera shot down. Please help.

Buy a proper NiMH rechargeable batteries (Sanyo Eneloop for example). Modern cameras will drain alkaline batteries in the matter of hours, not days.

Put in fresh batteries and camera telling me WARNING!! BATTERY EXHAUSTED

Either the fresh batteries are bad (this can happen), or they were inserted improperly, or the camera is defective somewhere. Measure the voltage on the batteries with a multimeter (voltmeter). Alkaline (regular) AA batteries measure about 1.6v to about 1.5v when new. NiMH (rechargeable) measure about 1.24v when fully charged. Be sure to install them with the + terminal and the - treminal going in the right direction. There should be some indication of this in the battery compartment of the camera. Hope this helps.

Battery life

The rechargeables are only meant to last a couple years maximum (pretty good that you got three out of them). Also rechargeable NiMH's have approximately 5 times the power of standard alkaline batteries. Alkaline batteries should only be used in emergencies in digital cameras as they will only last for a short while before they are drained (as you've discovered).

The obvious solution is that it's time to consider purchasing a new set of rechargeable NiMH batteries. Look on the package for a power rating of at least 2,500 mah. Avoid batteries that do not list the power rating as they are generally inferior batteries.

Keep putting new batteries in Nikon Coolpix L11 but keep saying low battery???

Hi,

Check if the charger is working. If yes Firstly, make absolutely sure that you have a pair of fresh HIGH QUALITY batteries, in fact go and buy a couple of duracells. Digital cameras are notoriously power hungry and it is very possible that a pair of cheap standard batteries will not be able to run it for more than a few minutes. Check that the terminals of the batteries and the camera are clean. If none of this works, and you did have fresh alkalines or equiv. then it will have to be returned for repair.

Thanks.

My canon A710IS shows the battery low light after a couple of minutes when it has new batteries in it.

1. use alkaline batteries or rechargeable NiMH batteries
2. you may need to clean and adjust the springs inside the battery compartment

Do not use alkaline batteries. Buy NiMH rechargables and keep a couple of sets on hand fully charges. ViviCam's eat alkalines alive!
