Question about Garden

Open Question

I have an older Allied International 3 ton service jack that does not work correctly. It does not appear to have a leak, but the it only goes up about half way when pump the handle. I remember from several years ago (ten or twelve) that I had to pump the handle quickly 20 times with the lock released then it would work. I have not used it in six years and now it will not jack up. I tried the pumping and that did not help. I think perhaps it is low on hydraulic jack oil, which I have some, but am not sure of the procedure to put the jack oil in. Exactly where and how much?

Poluan has redesigned the oil pickup from multiple pieces, to a single rubber piece that fixes this problem as well as the leaking after shut-off. Its only a couple of dollars, and actually works

could be the oil pump, but before you get to that, whens the last time you had you oil changed? is it the right type? was the filter changed to? if the oil is to thick for your engine, the pump could be having a problem pushing it. If its dirty, same thing applies. Next time you change your oil, be sure to use a full synthetic. its a superior oil all around.

How to overhaul/ repair a hydraulic floor jack?

Sounds like a bad seal on that plunger that pumps up and down. That plunger should unscrew and then it's pilled out , there should be an O ring. That is where it probably is leaking. You probably need to top off oil. You can jack oil in an auto store or Lowes, etc.

Is there anywhere that you can tighten the seal retainer if not needs a new seal . My experience is that a seal kit is as expensive as buying a new jack plus the work that goes into it. Look up how much to buy a new one and a set of seals then decide

Your company has just moved to a new office building. The server has a fiber optic network adapter, but the building does not have fiber optic cables installed. How do you install a media converter?

100BaeFX to 100BaseTx media converter. ST to SC cable.

SCA connector goes to the RX port in media converter.

STA connector goes to the TX jack on network adapter.

SC male B to TX port on media converter.

ST male B connector to the RX jack on network adapter.

Connect media converter to network with Cat5e cable which uses RJ-45 connectors.

I just inherited an older 3 ton floor jack. Guardian make, Model 4-102, 3000 lb. capacity. What type of fluyid does it take. who would I contact for repair parts? thanks

It was made by Hein-Werner, Similar to the WS model also 3,000lbs (not 3 tons). Been out of production at least 20 years or more. Guardian was Hein-Werner's cheaper off brand. Kind of a "dumbed-down" version. Also made an H-101 which was similar to H-W OS (O-Boy) model of 2500lbs.

Try a hydraulics dealer who sells Hein Werner parts. although obsolete, about 1/2 the parts are still available.

Lastly: Hydraulic jack oil. Never use brake fluid. Engine oil in a pinch, by I would never do it.

Take it apart and see if there are any loose wires. If not, try to find screws that will replace the lost ones.

you need to bleed the air from the cylinder. there should be an air bleed or else you bleed it at the relief needle. also, if it still leaks down after you bleeed out the air, the seat for the relief valve or the seals at the relief valve cartridge are worn
