This may seem silly, but it worked for me. I found this on another discussion forum. Try smacking the side of the camera relatively hard with the palm of your hand. Eject the tape and reinsert. You may need to do this a couple of times. Surprisingly it worked for me..

    Thanks for your response!!

I am sorry to hear regarding the trouble. This error code is very common on Sony models and i would agree that it is not easy to fix. Most of the times, you need to send the unit for repair.

Below are the steps given by Sony to fix this issue :-

    1. Turn off the camcorder.

    2. Remove the battery or disconnect the AC power adapter for 60 seconds.

    3. Insert the battery or reconnect the AC adapter.

    4. Turn on the camcorder.

    5. If the error message appears, service may be required.

If your camcorder still shows the same error code, then you'll have to send in your camcorder for service.

Try smacking the side of the camera relatively hard with the palm of your
hand. Eject the tape and reinsert. You may need to do this a couple of
times and see, if that could fix the issue.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

    Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

How do i earse a tape from a sony handycam

As with most tape recorders, there is no separate "erase" function. You just tape over it. If there is a write protect tab you will have to make sure that it is write enabled.

During play back mode the video flickers or skips. Do I need to insert a cleaning tape ?

This may be dirty heads, but if that does not clear the problem some times tapes left in wrong places can warp and that could have same effect you see.

Viewing SONY 8mm Tapes -- Please help

The older tapes were shot on a 8mm camcorder and the camcorder you have wil not play them becasue it doesn't have backwards compatability with the older format. The tapes you recorded are on a digital 8 camcorderr and it is different encoding than the one you recorded the other 60 tapes with. You will need to find either a dcr-trv 350 trv 530 trv 730 ect as these have the ability to play all the tapes.
Or find an older 8mm camcorder to play your tapes with.
Hope this helps
Cheers
