SOURCE: No am radio
You realize that the MW is the AM stations....I don't know
why they didn't just put AM on the band select...
Also I could not get MW (AM) on my set once and the
reason was that it was too close to my laptop...
It was interfering with the radio.....

SOURCE: Problem with FM reception.
Do you want to repair it at own? if yes, you need enough electronics knowledge, sufficient tools to carry out repair process and service manual of subject unit to locate defective parts.
Problem seems few capacitors and 1 or 2 band-pass filters replacement.
If you still want to repair it, please let me know to help you out.

SOURCE: AM reception
If the internal antenna is broken that means the ferrite bar is broken, that does imply that the wiring around it is cut. If the two parts are not removed, the antenna may still be able to perform correctly (just as two magnets put end to end). You can try to put it in the vicinity of another radio to see if there is any resonance effect.
Hope it helps.

Ist Local Oscillator (PLL) stops working. It's desiged with bare minimum feedback to keep it's output reasonably clean. Removing (De-soldering) the screening box reduces losses, but it's still marginal. Something in the osc. circuit is temperature sensitive, so squirting it with freezer spray - or putting the set in the 'frig will get it going again. Have one like this, "Repaired" - been going for about 5 years and just quit again! If I get any better luck next time, I'll re-post this!
