Same problem. When I open the lens to download images, it tell me the card isn't formatted, do I want to format it? I clicked NO, I don't want to loose the pix. The card already has pix from earlier as well. I don't get it. Any help?

I have the SAME exact problem. I ignore the saying that it needs to be re-formatted every time. I end up downloading it to my camera, then Uploading the photos to my website. It really hurts. I bought the camera at a yard sale for $2.00, includes the book, USB cord, and the disk is coming from that person. I can't sit and crab about it, I got a great buy!!

Your camera was designed before the SDHC format came out. Sorry, your camera can only use standard SD cards, those usually 2GB or less. An SDHC card will not be recognized properly by your camera. If you really want to use a 4GB card, do a Google search for SD and "non hc", with the non hc in quotes. Believe that Transcend makes one.
You can either use a separate card reader to download to your computer, or , take the card to a Walmart store and insert the card into a Kodak Picture Kiosk machine and print the pics or make a cd of them. Then, format the card in the camera.
Have you tried to put the card in a card reader and connect it to your computer? Card readers can be purchased at just about any store that sells electronics or camera supplies. They cost around $20 or less. You put the card in the card reader, attach it to your computer and click on start and then my computer. You should be able to see something that says digital media or mass storage. Highlight that and that right click. It should give you the option of formatting the card. It will erase everything and format it for you. Then you can try it in the camera. If this doesn't work then it should be looked at. Good luck
Yes, you can upload picture on memory card in camera and can playback in camera as well. Make sure that picture files are JPG format and file name must be DSC00001 to DSC99999, other then that camera will not show file in playback though memory card have it. Connect camera with computer, click My Computer >> Removable Disk >> 101MSDCF folder and copy / paste files there.
Believe that may have not formatted the card in your camera when you first got it. A non-formatted card may work well at first, but often can eventually result in symptoms like your experiencing.
The first thing you need to do is to save your photos to your computer from the card. You'll need an SD card reader to do this. If you don't have one already, get one, they're cheap:
After you've saved your pictures, you'll need to format your card IN YOUR CAMERA. Reinsert the card in the camera. Put the camera in picture review mode. Press the Menu button. Select the tools menu, and scroll down to the selection showing the card's memory capacity. Select it, and select OK for format. NOTE this will totally erase the card, so again save your photos first before doing this.
Format prompt comes due to the card's data access status.after back up your picture at MAC computer you can proceed for format (FAT 32 Recommended). Also you can use camera to format pictures. Next time it wont show format prompt
Try opening your My Computer screen, connect the camera to the computer and watch for the new removable disk to show up. Depending on the camera there may be two that show up. Right click on the removable disk/disks and choose format, click start and click okay. This should fully reformat the memory and you'll be able to take pictures again.

No its due to corrupted files! or Virus! If you r talking about memory card then copy all the non infected files and format the card to avoid more loss.
