The tape tray will not open, even when the "tape eject" switch is triggered. The motor runs but it won't open.

Defective mechanism, a stucked mechanism is present. camcorder are smart it can detects error and shuts down itself for safety. earlier models dominoes the defect if the user is not quick enough to react when something goes wrong with the camera. You need professional service to fix it.

SOURCE: gs36 tape door doesnt open

In case anybody read this....     I have a GS-36 that would not eject the tape. I removed all the screws from the bottom and pulled the bottom plate off. Then I fidgeted with the mechanism near the eject button towards the front of the camera.  In my case it had just become stuck and needed to be gently pried open.    Tested it a bunch of times with tape - seems to be o.k.!

Pinch roller stuck in "up" position, eject button won't open door
The very first mistake is to pry a door open. That damages them. You are never to do that. The correct way to get a tape out is to open the unit up and find out why the tape is stuck and then take action to release the door in the normal way- usually it is a loose belt or defective cam motor. As to the Pinch roller there are slide plates and even some pinch rollers had lubrication on them so that may have dried leaving you with a stuck part. The normal order of business is the find out what is stuck and then take action to clean and lubricate the mechanism to return to normal function. The problem with some Pinch Rollers is that there may be a particular spot it needs to be set at. This is true if it has a guide fitted to it. Then you will need either a jig or mirror tape to be able to set it correct again. I can not give any further advice without seeing the unit but this should get you started.

Sharp CD-BA2100, when I turn it on it starts making a clicking sound and if set to tape one or tape two, it shows "error". When set to "cd" it comes up with error 0306 and the cd tray...
the rubber rope which conect the motor to a small gears to open the cd was cut due to long using ... this sound of clicking coz the small motor is running and its not attached to anything ... its a small rounded rubber rope ..the bad news is you have to break some plastic stuff to reach the motor in the repair depot they change the whole upper part so it costs alot ... but if you can reach it it will work perfect as its new.

Ejecting a Stuck CD in Mac OSX
  • First try the normal methods to remove the disc. Drag its icon to the Trash can in the Dock or select 'Eject' from the File menu.
  • If you are running a virtual machine, e.g. VMFusion, ensure that the CD is disconnected from the virtual machine. This will sometimes allow the CD to now show up in Mac OS X.
  • Shut down the computer and start up whilst holding down the mouse button. This may take some time, but keep your finger on the mouse button right up until the disc comes out or the log-in screen has appeared.
  • If you have Toast Titanium installed on your computer, choose EJECT DISC from the menubar.
  • Sometimes you can successfully use the eject disc button in iTunes even if the disc is not visible to the Finder
  • Open Disk Utility and choose the disc you wish to eject in the left-hand pane, then click on the Eject button.
  • Some Macintoshes have a paperclip hole that you can insert a straightened paperclip into, manually triggering the eject mechanism.
  • Open Terminal and type "drutil tray eject" to eject the disc/tray, and "drutil tray close" to close the tray.
  • Restart the computer while holding down Command-Option-O-F, to enter the Open Firmware prompt. Type "eject cd" without the quotes, and press return. The disk ought to eject. To start into OS X, type "mac-boot" without the quotes. Press return, and the computer will continue with the startup. (This will not work on an Intel Mac. There is no Open Firmware on Intel Macs. )

I can't eject a dvd from my mac pro desktop
Try these tips.....usually holding down the touchpad buttton while tapping the eject button during bootup works.

My cd is stuck in macbook and is not being read by my computer it only makes a funny sound when i reload it
A CD or DVD disc can become stuck in your Macintosh. It may not be appearing on your desktop or could be causing the computer to lock up if the computer cannot recognize it properly.

VCR tape loads and runs about 5-10 sec; then ejects
you need to clean the vcr with a cleaner that you can buy at a store. If that doesnt work then you need to take the 4 or 5 skrews out that hold the top on and look at the motor and gears move while you put a tape in and you should spot the problem pretty quick. It'll be with the round metal wheel that turns the tape.

Loading tapes
I had a similar issue where the tape bay would not lock in and engage the motor mechanism to load the tape. I removed the battery from the unit and let it stand for approximately a minute then reinserted the battery. The tape drawer closed first without a tape then reopened with no issue. I then inserted a new tape with no issue. I guess it needed a hard reboot.

Error "04" on display & tape won't eject
you have bad capacitors in your power supply. i would suggest you take your unit to a good shop in your area and request a power supply re-build and mode switch cleaning.
