Why does the power brush turn on even when turned off?

If it is 6 months old, it should be under warranty. Call wherever you purchased the vacuum and ask how they handle warranty claims.

Ive got an Electrolux powerglide pet vacuum cleaner. The rollers don,t turn and it don,t suck anything. It is only one month old but i lost my receipt.

Lucky, It would help to know when the rollers aren't turning. If they don't turn when the handle is in the upright position, that may be correct. Many of the newer upright vac's have a switch that turns the brushroll off when the handle is in the up position, so that it won't set and run in one spot of the carpet while you do overhead cleaning with the wand and hose. If it's not turning when the handle is down the belt might be broken, or just have jumped off the motor spindle that turns it, or, if it's one that has options for the brushroll function, the switch that controls that function may be malfunctioning, (broken). The last possibility that I can think of is that there may be some carpet cord, thread or rope, string, etc, wrapped around the brush roll to the extent that it can't turn anymore. If you could get me a model number I might be able to look it up and get a schematic for it which could give us more info. Send to (

Spinbrush is very loud, barely sprays, spraks flew out the side. It is only 6 months old.

Hope you kept your receipt! That's a warranty item. Your motor is making the sparks. Go to hoovers website find the nearest service center and take the machine and your receipt to them. You'll get a new motor, installed, at no charge because they have a 1 year warranty.

The vacuum stopped running while vacuuming, won't turn back on. Have only had 2 months.

Take it to the local vacuum repair shop. The work cheaply most of the time and know exactly what is wrong. May do it while you wait. Most towns have at least one or two good shops. something like that is just too difficult to diagnose on fixya.

How to clean base of iron only 6 months old

If it has a non-stick sole plate: 1. heat 1 tablespoon each of vinegar and salt to boiling and then let cool - you want the salt to dissolve. 2. Use a nylon scrubbie that won't scratch and remove deposits/scorch areas with the solution. 3. If your iron is non-stick, it is supposed to be self cleaning. Happy Ironing.

Machine wont turn on

Either the motor is fried or the belt is burnt. If you can't hear it turn on, then check for any fuses that could have blown. They will be glass tube type. If fuse is good, motor or power supply could be bad. You can test them with voltmeter.

Broken belt, motor won’t turn

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. If the motor shaft won’t turn then you may have a bad motor or a stick carbon brush, but if it is just the belt the replace the belt with a genuine belt because the average belt change id every 4 to 6 months for the best cleaning and to store the extra belts in a Ziploc bag in the refrigerator. But you question does not tell me what brand name and model # it is so I have a hard time to diagnose the problem for you so my explanation if just a generic one and should work for you but next time please note the brand name and model #. If you have further problems please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or call the Kirby cust serv dept listed below. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Thanks, Don the Vac Man
