Assume you are using a SATA hard drive?

Either the Hard drive is damaged (you can check this by accessing the BIOS at start up and seeing if it recognises the hard drive) or more likely, you have a SATA drive that you need the driver for. You can get this from the MSI site in the motherboard downloads section. You need to save this driver to a floppy or usb and when installing windows, and the prompt comes up to "if you have any scsi controllers..."... press F6 now" click F6 and let it find the sata controller, it should then install

Also check the condition of the sata cable..

Im using windows xp, but unfortunately i with out my knowledge i have changed it. how can reactivate windows xp?

put the xp cd into the drive.the boot priority must be changed to 'cd drive' in the BIOS.
after the cd is in the drive few of the drivers have to be loaded and there will be a screen showing the option install, repair or cancel.

take install and there will be an option to format a hard disk drive and create a partition.follow the instructions provided there anddo the steps and the setup procedure will take you through the steps of installing a fresh copy of windows xp.
check back often because the setup needs some data to be entered by the user during the installation.enter the code when asked for.

hope it helps....

I recently bought TATA Olive VME101 Dialer. The guy from TATA Photon installed it on Windows XP Professional but I was not getting proper signal. It worked hardly for 15 minutes! So he uninstalled it......

same problem i had faced in Windows XP. follow this procedure.
uninstall previously installed driver. restart your computer. wait till win xp finishes booting. then plug in the modem. Check whether device is recognized as CD drive in your computer. cancel the find hardware wizard. double click to open the newly installed drive and run set up.exe. after installing unplug the device.reboot the computer and plug in again to enjoy the internet.

Cannot install from DVD disk. My "User Account Control" says, "Unidentified program wants access to your computer." Gives me the options of "Cancel" or "Allow". I click on "Allow" and nothing happens.

Start Vista's "Program Compatibility Wizard".
Tell it that you want to install a program that runs under Windows XP.
Point the wizard to the drive-letter of the DVD-drive.
It will install and run the software, "emulating" the Windows XP environment.

Installation Failure

Look in Add Remove Programs and if you see it remove the software that you cancelled then install the software. Even though it is recognized by XP you sometimes still need the software to see it. I know, it doesn't make sense and there are many that will tell you otherwise but I've had this same issue in teh past and that was the fix.

Windows xp on Gateway MT6723 laptop

Are you trying to install Windows XP on your laptop that has a SATA drive in the laptop?
And during the Windows XP install it cannot find a hard drive?
The reason why Windows install does not work is because Windows XP does not have a SATA driver support and therefore cannot find the hard disk.
Go into your BIOS and turn off Native SATA support or set it to IDE controller (this setting depends on the type of BIOS). Save the setting and reboot and you will be able to install Windows XP.

Installation of windows XP

preachw996 has it... you must enable the SATA drive you want to install XP onto as your 1st IDE DRIVE/DEVICE (ie. you are telling BIOS to dummy a SATA drive in to the 1st IDE position).

Only then will you be able to recognise the drive as a boot device.

This is done in BIOS.

Nvidia nforcennetwork bus installation disk #1

I have encountered the same problem with a repair to XP PRO Setup - repair due to a virus, where I didn't want to reinstall from scratch because of the programs that were already installed on C drive. The quickest way to circumvent is to hit Cancel (ensure you have a USB or PS2 mouse - wireless will freeze) repeatedly when provided with this prompt. You will receive other error messages prompting for other things later the process. With hitting Cancel at all of these prompts, Win XP Pro installed fine, and I was able to re-install the latest drivers for the motherboard and video card after Windows XP booted up.
