SOURCE: Carpet Height Adjusment

In addition to the tab that contacts the bottom of the slider, there are 2 protusions on the adjustable wheel plate that move through holes in the housing, but only when the handle is tilted to begin vacuuming. The wheel plate has a spring that forces the tab against the slider. As the handle is moved to the upright position, the protusions move back through the holes, taking the tab away from the slider and the wheel plate locks in its highest position. Therefore, the position of the slider has no effect while the handle is upright and locked. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Hoover Windtunnel carpet level adjustment

The suction is so great that it sucks up your carpet, then nothing works. I get my children to stand on the corners/edges of the rug so that it stays perfectly flat on the floor while I vacuum. Or, you can turn off the brush roller (set it to "hard floor" setting). Or, tip the vacuum cleaner's front up slightly while vacuuming, to reduce suction.

SOURCE: height adjustment not adjusting

The height adjustment wont engage unless the handle is in the down position. Not knowing this led me to overturn the hight adjustment knob.

Step on the handle release, pull the handle back and lay the vac on its side. Then you can get the knob and the plate back together again.

BTW, the reason I had this problem is because the front brush slows dramatically when using on carpet, I thought it was set too low, and turned the knob (in a manly fashion, putting it past its limit). Still working on that one. After inspecting the belt, looks like one worn and cracked spot gumming up the works.

SOURCE: Bissell Pet Hair Erase does not vacuum.

It is because the belt is worn or stretched and needs to be replaced. Here are the belts you need and the manual which has instructions:

SOURCE: I have the Dyson DC14 and its like it's not

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

It sounds as though the internal hose underneath the machine has twisted slightly. With the machine switched off, lay it on its side and look at the base. You should be able to see a small corrigated hose. Simply twist this a quarter turn clockwise which hopefully will allow the head to adjust again.

If you are still having problems, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards
Darran

Does the proteam proforce 1500xp automatically adjust itself for high or low carpet scenarios?

This vacuum cleaner has no height adjustment. You can run it across any type of carpet without making adjustment. You should turn off brush roller when using on hard floors.

The beater brush will no longer drive under a load on short pile carpet

Have you tried changing the height adjustment? There should be a knob or lever that allows you to adjust the height of the beater brush to accommodate different carpet lengths. Even with a new belt, the brush will not spin if the height is too low. Try adjusting it all the way up, then while it is running, adjust it down until there is some resistance. The beater brush should just barely scrape the top of your carpet.

Can I lift the vacuum beater bar higher up? Bought new carpet and would like it to push smoother!!! Bought a shag carpet

No. The Electrolux (Aerus) uprights are auto adjusting to the height of the carpet. Make sure the brush is spinning when the vacuum is on. If it's not, this will cause difficulty in use.

I have a Sharp vacuum EC-12TXT4 upright and I want to adjust the height for various carpets, how is this done? I have lost my owners manual and cannot find such manual on the internet. Could you please...

This model claims to have automatic adjustment. It has two foot pedals at the bottom which gauges the height of the carpet/floor. There's no other way to adjust the height.

Rollers are to low and tearing up carpet.

unfortunatly you cant adjust the height on that type of machine, and new carpet no matter how good or expensive can shed for up to a year, the best thing would be to buy a cheap carpet rake ( not a garden rake ) that would get up all that fluff.
