Remove the top of the heater and turn it on. Look for the igniter to start sparking if it uses the spark plug type igniter or if it uses a HSI type, look for it to start glowing. Next, use a flashlight to look for fuel spraying out of the nozzle. If it isn't check the nozzle for a clog. Check the fuel filter. Remove the filter cover on the back of the motor and check the air filter. If this doesn't get the fuel going you will need to get a pressure guage to screw into the left hole in the filter cover and check the air pressure going to the fuel nozzle. It should ~3.5#. You can adjust it by turning the adjusting screw in the other hole in the filter cover. That plug should have a hole in it.

Turn on heater, it does not ignite, but the fan kicks in and sprays fuel out the front

It sounds like you either have a bad ingitor or bad ignitor adjustments. I'd suggest calling a service tech.

Not sure what type heater you are asking about. If oil furnace, then the igniter rods need to be resharpened and adjusted into proper alignment.

My furnace blower kicks on and the flame lights for about 5 seconds then kicks off. I replaced the igniter recently. The service trouble light blinks continuously.

Your furnace may be kicking out on high limit. Its possible your circ. or blower fan needs to be cleaned. If you don't get enough air moving across you heat exchanger it will kick off on high limit.

Our fan wont kick on , you can do it manually

sounds like your plenum temp sensor is pooched. once your plenum gets to a certain temperature then a sensor closes, telling your fan to turn on, if the fan doesn't turn on then the flames will be shut off by the high limit switch witch prevents your plenum from burning up.

Fan kicks on, hear a click about 10 sec's when the heater should normally kick in. It is blowing air, fan works but no heat. Been using for a month ok, used last three months when new last year

You may just be out of gas or a valve may be off. If not you need to look for a ignition problem. A bad glow plug or no pilot. The fact that your blower works and the click you hear narrowes it down to these two things. Good luck.

I have a Dayton gas heater Model 3E225

Does the main blower fan kick on? Also, if the heater is vented outside via a flue pipe, there may be a small (about 3 or 4 inches in diameter) vent fan that kicks on to ensure the exhaust fumes are evacuated through the flue pipe. If there's a problem with that fan, the burner won't light either.
