Default volume too high

How can I change the default volume level on my new system. 17 is deafening.

When turning the unit on it defaults to a volume level of 17. This level is unacceptably high. If there is no factory fix for this I will have to return the unit

Brilliant Solution. I assume you use more power, but it's a reasonable soultion. I didn't expect it to work considering normal operation of this stuff.
The loudness might work for a heavy sleeper and the unit in another room.
Thanks. I am now happy with my choice. I love the inputs. That's why I baught it in the first place.
Thanks again.

Unfortunately you can't change it. There have been many other users here who have the same complaint, but it's the way the manufacturer made the thing. Don't know why it doesn't remember the last volume setting before it was turned off, but that's the way they did it. Perhaps the most unique solution someone suggested is to switch to the auxiliary input (assuming you don't have anything connected to it) instead of turning off the power. This will quiet it, then you just switch back to the other source when you want to listen again. Maybe a call or email to the manufacturer will get more information. Sometimes, when enough people have the same complaint, they offer some kind of remedy.

Just bought new laptop acer aspire 5733Z and have a very bad audio even at max volume

Try downloading the Audio card driver again: http://support.acer.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?modelId=3680.
If that doesn't work, make sure the Levels of the speaker device you are using are high. Go to Control Panel, Sound, Playback tab, and click properties for the speakers you are using (they should be the default ones), go to the Levels tab and check to see that it is at 100%

2007 Saturn Aura XE, the audible alarms can hardly be heard

Good news - they're adjustable. The radio is used to adjust the vehicle's chime level. To change the volume level of the chime, press and hold push-button 6 with the ignition on and the radio power off. The volume level will change from the normal level to loud, and LOUD will appear on the radio display. To change back to the default or normal setting, press and hold push-button 6 again. The volume level will change from the loud level to normal, and NORMAL will appear on the radio display.

Note: Each time the chime volume is changed, three chimes will sound to indicate the new volume selected.

I sent a note to the manufacturer. Communication attached below.

Dear Customer,
We thank you for your interest in GPX and our products. We apologize, but the volume level on the unit is a factory setting that we are not able to override or alter.
Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

The default volume is set way too high on this radio. It is at 17 and we would like to reset it to a much lower level. How do I do this?
