You need to change the output to SPDIF in the sound card settings.

Sound output through hdmi

DVI is "Digital Video Interface". No Audio is transferred through this type of connection - even if one end of the cable is HDMI.

BEST solution would be to purchase a video card with HDMI output.

Alternate solution would be to run audio from rear audio jack to TV (assuming you have an input on the TV that will accept it)

Hi

For Installing & Software purpose you can follow below steps provided by me

1. Removed RAM until I had left 2gb
2. Installed Daniel K driver (vers 1.5 google it)
3. Installed Kx driver (3550-x86 google it)
4. Added the rest of the RAM.
5. Soundcard works good with more the 2GB of RAM on WIN 7 x86

If you have kx driver and you don't get 5.1 sound go to control panel -> sounds -> chose "SPDIF/AC3 Output -> press Set as Default

No sound from hd graphics card goeforce 2400 output, only picture

Check your audio settings if its set to hdmi output.

Also if that board has a spdif out behind near the usb ports, See if its glowing or on....if not then you have a bad motherboard. Had the same problem before with another asus board

Lg e500 no spdif output

If you open your sound card properties, you have to tell the hardware (soundcard) to use the SPDIF. For some models of Realtek sound cards, it requires and adapter that you plug into the port and offers optical or coaxial. I could not find anything stating that your PC requires it but I dont have the serial number of your PC to find if you have a different version of the soundcard used in your model notebook.

Also, make sure you are using the proper SPDIF cable to your reciever. This is a digital connection so it requires a 3.5mm to standard male coaxial (RCA) cable. If you are using one, then you just need to make sure that your soundcard knows to ouput audio through the SPDIF port.

Hope that offers some help. If you need further assistance, let me know!

Need SPDIF pinouts identified.

When looking at the board, bottom towards you assuming that the 3 pins are parallel to the pci/e slots, the left pin should be the +5V vcc the middle pin is the spdif out and the right pin is the ground. Also the 3 pins are probably not exactly the same distance from each other (equally spaced) the 2 pins that are closest together are the spdif and the ground, spdif is always the middle pin. This info is based on 2 different asus motherboard install guides. I hope this helps you.

NO VISTA AUDIO DRIVER FOR ASUS P5GL-MX MOTHERBOARD

First off, go into BIOS at boot (hold del key) and make sure that your onboard sound is switched on.

Then check your device manager (control panel/device manager) to see if it identifies your sound chip.

Use right click/update driver/search online to see if microsoft can find it for you. If not, it is very likely a Realtek AC97 chip or similar. Search for this driver and go on from there.

ASUS M2N-E SLI sound no longer works?????

Hi Mike,

It is possible when you reinstalled did you install the same version of windows? ie. x86 or 64bit it is possible during the installation process new drivers are updated.

Also, b/c of this fact your motherboard may have spdif out and if it does the drivers installed will be HD audio drivers so check the device manager.

If it is HD audio drivers and using spdif passthrough the only way to hear it is if you send it to a receiver or manual go into the sound module in control pannel and select a different sound source rather than spdif out.

good luck

smeags.
