UNABLE TO CONNECT TO THE INTERNET THROUGH COMCAST

HI, I JUST SWITCHED FROM VERIZON TO COMCAST AND I AM UNABLE TO CONNECT TO THE INTERNET THROUGH THE ROUTER USING THE ROUTER BELOW. CAN YOU PROVIDER SOME DIRECTION ON HOW TO RECONFIG THE ROUTER?

To setup your router
first check..
Connect Cable modem to the computer using an Ethernet cable without the router installed and make sure that the Internet connection is active. If it is not, contact your Internet Service Provider. If it can go online,
to setup connectionwith router ..
Step 1:
Connect the Cable modem to the router’s WAN or Internet port.
Step 2:
Connect the computer to any available numbered port (1, 2, 3 or 4).
NOTE: In this example, we’ll connect the computer to port number 3.
Step 3:
Make sure the power adapter is plugged to an available power outlet.
Step 4:
check if you are able to go online wired..
if not your router has to be configured first,
you can also try power cycling your network set up,
Press and hold the reset button in your router for 30 sec with a pen or a paper clip with the power cable connected, then disconnect power for your router wait for 30 sec and then reconnect in back, restart your pc waith for all the lights to become stable in your router, then check if you r able to go online..

I just got a belkin wireless router. After I connect my modem, the modem light on the router is orange instead of blue and I cant figure out why. Can anyone give me some advice?


depending on ur internet service provider, u should change the connection type to dynamic (comcast, time warner, cable vision) or PPPoE if u have a user name and password for ISP's like AT&T and verizon

Can the microsoft MN700 Router be used with cable internet instead of DSL from the phone company?I switched from Verizon DSL to Comcast Cable internet but can not find an answer if the MN700 is compatible...


I would say yes but i have not tested it personaly, but what i know about routers it should work with. Cable internet and dsl are exactly the same thing. The only difference is how its delivered to your house and the speed of it.

It made not be design for your ISP Internet. To make this clearer, Verizon uses Westell modem for there internet, and Comcast uses motorolas.

Unable to get wireless connection at a new location


Hi...

Verizon uses PPOE(point to point protocol over ethernet) and Comast does not use PPOE. Therefore she needs to get inside the router 168.192.1.1(user:admin & pdw: admin) to disable the "PPOE". Oh and also, the router needs to be hard wired to the computer for reconfiguration to take place...hope this helps

Hi Susie
With related to your particular issue it seems like that your broadband modem is not configured for the router. There are basically 2 types of connection. DSL and Cable modem. Verizon, ATT are DSL and comcast other providers give you a normal cable broadband connection. If its comcast make sure the cable from the comcast modem is going to the internet port in the linksys router and also make sure that there is a system connection the linksys router and the cable from the system goes to any of LAN 1, 2, 3 and 4 ports. Then reset your cable modem by using a pin and inserting to the reset hole in the modem. You could use the same step to reset your linksys router as well .If its a verizon or dsl connection you need to put normally your username and password in the router page. here is the link to how to configure linksys for your internet modem.

theres a possiblity that the modem is set to bridge mode,in that way,you will not be able to connect to the internet direclty to the modem,192.168.1.1 is usually the deault gatewayy address for almost all verizon modem and username is admin and password is admin as well,if admin didnt take for the password,try using password as the password
