The vent fan is not working but micro is. Replaced charcoal filter & reset still not working.

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

  1. Exhaust fan motorIf your exhaust fan motor is not running, there are a couple of things that you can check involving the motor to locate the problem. After removing the fan motor, you can manually attempt to turn the fan blades with your hand. If the fan motor is working properly, the blades should spin effortlessly. If this does not occur and the blades are taught, the motor will need to be replaced. Secondly, the fan motor itself can burn out due to time and usage. Using an ohm meter, the exhaust fan motor should read open for continuity. If it does not, then the fan motor has expired and will need to be replaced.
  2. ThermostatAnother part that could cause the microwave exhaust fan to not work is a faulty thermostat. A thermostat gauges the air temperature, which activates the exhaust fan when required. If this part becomes flawed, the exhaust fan will not energize and the thermostat will need to be replaced.
  3. Main control boardIf your exhaust fan is still not working and the microwave fan motor, wiring, and thermostat are operating accurately, the root cause could be with the main control board. Replace the main control board.

I have a Whirlpool microwave that ran but did not heat. while trying to identify the problem the fuse blew. I replaced the fuse but it immediately blew again when power was applied. what is causing the...

A dead short---most have a large diode inside that you may have by accident destroyed. I will attach a photo of a typical diode but yours likely will be similar or may look different---it will have the diode symbol on it and or a band at one end---it has to go the same direction as the one in the unit.

Simple to test with a meter--resistance reading should NOT read like a fuse.

Microwave not heating

It sounds like the magnetron may have either failed or is not being supplied with the extremely high voltage required to run it.

YOUR SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT

This is a job for a professional but if you are safety clued up, here's instruction.
Make sure the !!!!capacitor is discharged!!!!! before attempting any sort of repair.
Check the door interlock switches first then the high voltage diode with either an AVO model 8 or moving coil meter on high resistance range for short circuit, (DVM's won't show the fault!), the capacitor can fail and go short circuit, the feed fuse on the primary of the high voltage transformer and then finally, the magnetron is best checked by substitution.
Hope that helps.

Load test.

A simple safety test.
Place 1/2 litre of water in a glass container. Measure the temperature of the water.
Place in microwave and heat on full power for 1minute.
Measure the temperature after it has stood for 1minute.
If the temperature difference is more than 9 degrees Celcuis the magnetron is working and producing about 700Watts of heat.
If your microwave is labelled with 900 or 1000Watts. That is about right.
If the temperature is less then the magnetron is not working properly and may need replacing.

This a only a rough guide and any doubts you should consult an authorised service agent.
