    Hello Macmarkus,

Thanks for the reply. I ran the self diagnostic/test program and got the 06 error code. The door latch and door hinge alignment seem good and the door closes properly. Is it hard to replace the faulty door lock mechanism? The Bosch repairman cost $185.00 for the first 30 minutes and $20.00 for each 15 minutes after that. I am wondering how hard it is to change the door lock mechanism myself? My e-mail address is jsamanie@pacbell.net

    Regards

    Dear Macmarkus

I installed the new lock assembly and that fixed the error code 06. I just ran a load and it performed the whole cyle without errors.

    Thanks for all your help.

The solution was very helpful. Macmarkus diagnosed the problem correctly with detailed instructions on how to replace the faulty part. I ordered the part and installed it myself in about 10 minutes. I probably saved between $200 and $300 conservatively. Thank you very much.

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Based on your description it sounds like a faulty door lock mechanism. As you may or may not already know the 06 error code for the WFK2401 Bosch washer indicates an error in the lock has been detected.

This is from the Bosch service tips I have, so you should be able to check it with this info...

Bosch clothes washer model WFK 2401 with error - macmarkus_185.jpg

I also have this available to you in "pdf" and I can send you if you want to provide an email address since the "pdf" cannot be attached or sent via these post's.

You can also run a self diagnostic/test program by following these steps I've laid out, then let me know what you find...I suspect a faulty lock as I alluded to though.

To enter test program for WFK 2401 washers:

1) Set cycle knob to any "X" (reset) position

2) Press and hold Pre-Wash and Start buttons at the same time. While still holding Pre-Wash and Start buttons, turn unit on by pressing On/Off button.

3) Keep holding Pre-Wash and Start buttons (only) until digital display comes on (~ 5 seconds).

**HINT: Turning washer off at any time will end test program**

When test program has been entered:

Start light will flash

Digital display will show 00 for no faults or will show fault codes below:

Let me know what you find as I said or if you require further assistance. Thanks for choosing FixYa for your repair inquiry and good luck

please rate the solution I provided accordingly.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

    Hello again,

The changing or checking of the door latch assembly actually isn't very difficult...in my opinion, and depending on your mechanical abilities it likely wouldn't be that hard for a do-it-yourselfer...with help.

**The first step is to unplug the unit from the dryer, or the wall depending on your particular set-up...safety first of course**

The door switch itself should be held in place via two screws which should be visible when you open the door to the basket, but first remove the spring which holds the door seal/boot gasket in place,

    i.e

Once the spring is removed, you can fold the boot gasket back away from the front panel, this will allow you to reach in and remove the door latch assembly...with the wires and fasteners from the front removed as well of course.

It should look like this image...

This part is available at on-line supplier "repairclinic.com" for around $35USD and their part is # 1159500.

Let me know if any of this is not clear or you need my help in any manner. Good luck.

    Regards,

    Macmarkus :)

Disconnect the drain hoses and check for blockages, look for block at end of exit hose. If no blockage "time" the drain interval. If it's more than 6 minutes it's the pump. Also make sure you're using the correct type of soap so the ball check valve on the bottom of the outer drum isn't getting fouled with excessive suds. Also disconnect the drain hose from your house plumbing and let it free flow on it's own. This will tell you if the blockage is in your plumbing and not in the machine.

I have a Bosch washer, model number WFK 2401 that washes and rinses, but suddenly won't spin. It just sits and counts down until the end of the spin cycle and then signals the end of the wash cycle as...

I just had the same problem last week Aug 1 2009
on our WFK 2401 purchased in 2001

If you hear no motor spinning when it should then it's something
with the motor. If you hear motor spinning, esp spin cycle, but
the drum doesn't spin, then probably broken belt ($30 part).

Since I work on cars (this is very much like an alternator+belt) and wanted to avoid a $100 service call (just to come to house) and
at least try for a quick fix before buying a new washer, I opened the back, confirmed belt looked ok, so tried
replacing the brushes in the motor, and it worked.

For a good description on how to do this see
http://dossy.org/2007/05/lots-of-miles-on-our-bosch-wfk2401uc-washer-motor/
I took some pics, and time permitting will post more details
to this dossy site to help fellow owners.
I purchased the brushes at partstap.com for $50 (incl tax+ship)

Installing carbon brushes on Bosch WFK 2401

Remove rear panel of washer.
Remove drive belt.
Unscrew the 2 bolts that hold motor to tub back.
Remove motor plug
Lever notor back with a screwdriver or similar, keeping a firm hold on motor.and remove motor
At the rear end of motor away from pulley you will see the brushes and the armature.
Remove brushes, and if there is less than 4 or 5mm of carbon left, then replace them.
Lightly clean the armature with emery cloth.
Refit in reverse order. Test.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.
