Code 8.3: 12V 4 pin plug disconnected or power supply damage. Check connection /test PSU
code 9.0: OC too high (possible bios damage) clear CMOS as 1st resort

Not sure about 4.0 but 0.4 indicates memory module failure.

Have you overclocked the board? The codes would indicate you went a bit over the top if you did. I'd clear the cmos and check the PSU and reseat the ram and start from the vanilla settings, hopefully the bios chip is not blown

Dark screen

On power on the screen would stay black, no POST, nothing at all on the display. The HDD would spin up but the HDD indicator would not come on and would not boot. The DVD drive would spin up and attempt to read a disc if one was in the tray but still would not boot. I found an answer on another forum. Unplug the power, remove the battery and then hold the power button for 30 to 60 seconds. Then reattach the power and attempt a boot. It worked for me! Just shutdown, put the battery back in you're good to go. Worked for me so definitely worth a try.

Either a MoBo or CPU problem. Do you not have a post analyser that plugs into a spare PCI slot? You could then start from bare bones and progress through or at least know it was the CPU or MoBo quicker.

Mobo does not power up Dead cpu dead mobo?

A dead CPU will not hinder a board from powering up. The board is unlikely to POST. However, you should heard attempts at powering up and immediate shutdown. Or, you will see the PSU comes on but system not boot.

No mobo, but, CPU.

If no failed attempts at boot, no indicator lights, then you have either a failed power supply or DEAD motherboard.

Good luck

Wont go into safe mode or boot from cd menu

F10 is usually the boot sequence key for most laptops. but you posted in the ACER section for a DELL so its a little diicult to decide which information to give you other tha F10

You could always watch the boot sequece as quite often there will be a message there to offer you an option of chanhe boot device or even a recovery option

Booting Problem

The first question is, are you attempting to boot from your CD ROM and if so why? I need to understand more about what is happening before I attempt to answer your problem. Are you attempting to fix a problem or re-install your operating system? Do you always boot from a CD and if so, why not the hard drive? Is the same operating system installed on both your laptop and your desktop?

Computer will not boot up. I have tried to boot up in safe mode, normal, safe mode with prompt command...nothing works, just goes back to the normal start up screen and keeps doing the normal start up over...

It looks like you're encountering an endless reboot? Here's what to do to find the actual error message.

  1. Turn on the computer, and press F8 after the POST screen but before Windows attempts to start to access the advanced startup options.
  2. Select "Disable Automatic Restart On System Failure" and press Enter.
You should now get a blue screen with an error message and error codes. Please write these codes down and report back.

Boot

Hello,
This might be a problem with your harddrive. When your laptop is not seeing the hard drive, it attempts to boot to other devices and may give the message shown in your post.

Thanks,
Lolita
