Question about Philips 20PF5120/01 20 in. EDTV-Ready LCD Television

Open Question

I got this 32 inch Philips flat screen and on the side I happen to have a USB port that says service terminal on it. I got this adapter that has the video input cords including the usb cord for an iPod. Well I connected the three cords to the video input and the USB cord to the service terminal port and connected it to my iPod. Well it was working fine for awhile and I was just listening to music on my tv. When I disconnected the USB cord from the service terminal port it happened to turn my tv off. My tv than no longer wanted to turn on again. So I connected the USB cord back into the service terminal port and try to turn it on and it did. So I tried to figure out how to turn it on without using the USB cord but it wouldn't let me. Eventually my tv didn't want to turn on with or without the USB cord in the service terminal port and now I can't do anything about it. Could someone please help me fix this problem?

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

SOURCE: Philips 47PFL7422 Flat Screen no power

Check the main fuse
If that is ok look for puffed up capacitors on the power supply
Check the 1000ufd @ 35v change them to 1000uf @ 50volts

Good luck

I had the Same issue. on a 50PF9431D/37 set. Many Plasma Set's use a LJ44-00118A PS-505-PH Power supply from Samsun. Know to have this common problem. If you can, or have a friend that can Solder components?. Unplug your set remove the back panel & locate your power supply. It will be the PCB in the center of the set just above the Video/Audio conections. http://www.shopjimmy.com/power-supply-unit-lj44-00118a-from-philips-50mf231d-40.htm. Link to a photo of the PCB. Make a note of the location of all cable connections then unplug them all. Un-install PCB, Check a Fuse first. I believe their is 5 or 6 of them on the PCB. Then replace the two 3300uf 10v 105C Radial capacitors at C8060 & C8059. The location of the caps are in the Lower bottom edge of the PCB. A local shop may Carrie them if not, digi-key has them. Part # http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=493-1754-ND. Total cost was $7 with S/H.

SOURCE: Screen goes black tv stays on. Turn off and on and TV's fine.

I had this problem on my 42" Philips. Just got it yesterday and worked fine on the tv stand. As soon as I mounted the TV to the wall via wall mount system, I had the exact same issue you did. Figured it out today.

The wall mount was putting pressure against the center of the back of the tv (tv set had a slightly rounded back plate, and the mount was a flat plate). As soon as I put spacers (part of the wall mount hardware set) between the wall mount braket and the tv so there was no contact except at the mounting holes, the tv worked fine.

My theory is the pressure pushed the tv back plate against some board components which caused them to overheat (no air flow); or put pressure on internal connectors. I dont know.

Hope this helps, may not apply to your situation.

T L C television what is the purpose of the USB port on the side of the 32 inch flatscreen TV. My copy of users manual has been destroyed can one download to a laptop computer using nthe USB port.

Hi,

The USB port on TV's is to record a program onto a Flash Drive/Thumb Drive,
which then you can plug the Flash Drive into your Computer to watch or download it on your PC.

I hope this helps you.

Sound but the screen on my westinghouse 32 inch flat screen is solid lime green

By "sound but the screen on my westinghouse 32 inch flat screen is solid lime green" Do you mean that you have sound but the screen is green? If yes it means that an analog signal is being fed to a digital input. Did you recently change the input cables at the back from one port to another? If not then please describe what are colors of the cabels you are using(Yellow, Red, White or Red Blue Gren etc.,) and what port they are connected to so that I can tell you whether its a problem with the connections or the tv itself.

Philips flat sreen t.v. question

It is not normal. Try pressing the FORMAT button on the Philips remote. If the problem still persists, try pressing the Zoom or View button on your cable or satellite remote. If neither resolves your issue, there may be a problem with the LCD screen - call Philips and get in contact with an Authorized Service Center.

The TV is in some kind of factory modus, you have to simultaniously hold the VOLUME down (-) and PROGRAM down (-) buttons on side of the TV for 3 seconds.
