Question about Canon PIXMA MX340 Wireless Office All-in-One InkJet Printer

Open Question

Can not connect my canon mx340 printer to my linksys WRTN50 router. Even if I turn my wireless security off it still can't connect. Even if I assign an IP to the MAC address of the printer... it still won't connect. I've turned Frame Burst Rate off on the wireless section to see if that is fooling it... no joy... Anyone got the holy grail settings to make this printer connect??? Thanks

SOURCE: setting Ip address on canon c3220 imagerunner.

Is the Canon connected with a cable that's connected to an active port. You can try to Fixed IP hold down 1 & 7 When you power up the machine, make the necessary network configurations and see if pings back with a reply.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

SOURCE: My canon imageclass 4370dn won't acquire an IP

I would say the problem is one of a few things.

The first I would suggest is to make sure that your network cable is the correct kind. A "NULL" or "Crossover" cable will look the same as a regular CAT 5 but will not work for this purpose. Check to make sure you have a minimum CAT 5 network cable.

Secondly I would check to make sure that you are connected to the correct port on the back of the printer. Connect to the 10Base-T/100Base-TX port.

Reset you router to factory defaults by holding the reset button down for 5 to 20 seconds. There may be a setting that is restricting access.

You may not be able to use USB and Network at the same time, you will have too look into this.

Try a firmware upgrade on both your printer and router.

Your network settings and firewall may be preventing the connection.

This will sound silly, but have you properly added the network printer to a computer and tried printing? it may not be working fine.

Is this router hooked up to another router? if so you may have to open your router settings (instructions avail on web) and turn off DHCP, and set the default IP address of the router to match the first three sets of numbers in the first router (the one which supplies the internet) with the last number being 254 (avoid conflicts). So if your first routers address is 192.168.0.1 then you should set this one to 192.168.0.255. I don't know if this will work, but it should turn your HUB into a switch which could help. For this to work you will have to run the "INTERNET in" cable from the first router to one of the numbered LAN ports.... and just forget the "INTERNET" port.

Hope this helps. Hard to figure out without being there.

This printer does not have a network interface. There is no ip address for this printer. You must connect via usb.

SOURCE: where do i find network

The network key is also known as the encryption key or passphrase. It is the password on your wireless network that you have to type in other the computer with a wireless device to connect to the Internet. You normally set it using by connecting to your wireless router using its IP address when it is connected to a computer. Use the Internet to find the default IP address for your wireless router. It is normally in the form 168.192.1.1 or something similar.

Why won't my canon mx340 usb cable does not fit into d-link router

There is no need to use USB cable to connect MX340 to a wireless router.
If you don't want to use the printer as wireless, plug the printer cable directly into your PC USB port.

My Canon MX340 is all set up wirelessly and has the blue light on. But when I try to print something from Word is shows that the printer is not responding. I know it prints because I used it to copy...

You MUST put in the password of the router in or it will never connect. Pressing a number key several times quickly should change the number to letters.

Linksys WRT54G Wireless Router Issue Allows 1 Computer at a time

Your router my not be DCHP enabled or it might not be assigning the IP addresses either.

I would do a reset and start all over with your security settings and see if that works. Worst case scenario you could always turn security off when your parents or others are there.

Can't figure out how to open the UDP port number 427

Since both your printer and your desktop are on the LAN side of your router, the hardware firewall isn't really a concern here. I would check the following:

-Make sure the printer is actually connected to the network. If you are having wireless difficulties, and have a wired ethernet port on the printer, try plugging it in rather than going wireless. (If this fixes the problem, you can then concentrate on it being a wireless connectivity issue rather than a firewall issue.)

-If possible, try printing from a different PC on the network. Does it work with that PC? If so, then reinstall the printer on the problem PC, perhaps even clearing out and reinstalling the drivers.

-You may also want to manually assign an IP address to the printer. This address must be within the same "range" as the rest of the network. Since your router is probably assigned 192.168.1.1, and DHCP auto-assigns your PC 192.168.1.100, make the printer 192.168.1.20. This way, the printer has the same address every time the PC goes looking for it.

-Make sure you don't have a second firewall on the affected PC. Zone Alarm, Norton Internet Security and many other "all in one" security packages sometimes throw a firewall in there without your knowledge. See if you can "ping" your PC from another computer on the network, and can you "ping" the printer from the problem PC?

Hope this helps!

My wireless printserver isn't connecting to the wireless router

Make sure that the IP address assigned to your printer is in the range of the allowed IP's of your router. It will usually default to a range of 192.168.1.100. If you are using some kind of security like WEP, that has to be programmed into your printer to allow access into the router. Otherwise the router will not let it connect.

Linksys WRT54G wireless router not compatible with Aztech modem?

Darvin, gotta love your ISP. Never fear......

if it isn't too much of a problem (knowing you have wireless setup done already), then do a factory reset on your router ** remember to copy the WEP Key if you have, or recall the PASS PHRASE so you won't have to reset all wireless devices ** Reset is located on back, you need a ball point pen to reach the reset switch.

Reset process: unplug, take ballpoint pen & insert into reset switch & plug unit back in. Sometimes tricky, but you should notice green light goes to yellow/orange upon resetting.

RESET or NOT - you want the Linksys set for ::

Connection Type - AUTOMATIC (for automatic discovery)
Router IP Address - 192.168.2.1

DCHP - ON, Addresses - 192.168.2.100 and allow 5-50 users
(for security, assign the number of DESKTOP + WIRELESS expected users +1, this way you don't get overrun without knowlege)

Take the cable from Aztech ETHERNET OUT to WAN on Linksys. (usually BLUE) (??) not 100% sure as I have the little silver pocket edition of the same Router. - power cycle (turn both DSL modem & Linksys off for 20 seconds. turn on DSL Modem, wait till it's about as ready as possible, turn on Linksys, should only take 20-30 seconds to power up & recognize.

VERIFY SETTINGS: access router - 192.168.2.1, goto STATUS. you should see IP Addressing, SubNet, DNS1 & DNS2 settings. If you do not, then you have no internet connection.

ALTERNATIVE,

Setup Linksys Router with COnnection Type: PPoE, you will need your ISP assigned ID & Password. Follow all other instructions properly.

If you still have problems, please contact me at 906-495-1707 or via Yahoo IM junodr@yahoo.com or through this website.
