Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have followed the instruction and reset the 7 inch netbook several times and I still cannot get an internet connection. When I get to the wireless information I put in my information and then under status: it ready not connected and signal strength read excellent then it flashes to no signal....I'm confused on how to get a connection.

Slow wifi on Sony Pcg-21313l

So, If you have internet connection speed problem with your wireless try with the following steps,
1.) Reset the wireless router by using the power switch on it or by unplugging it and plugging it back in.
2.)Place the wireless router in an ideal location. The higher it is, the better, but don't put it near metal objects.
3.)Get as close as possible to the router with whatever device you're trying to connect.
4.)Keep the router and your connecting device away from other electronics. You should especially keep away from phones, fax machines and microwaves. etc.,
5.)Adjust the Wifi antenna if it has one.
6.)Change the router's channel, especially if other wireless routers are nearby.
Following these steps would give you stable internet connection and also increased speed in connection. You can check your internet speed from www.ScanMySpeed.Com before and after following these steps.

We have new netbook and we are connect to a wireless internet but my netbook will not connect to the internet.

First, on the left side of the main screen, you will see an icon that says "WI-FI Power". That's the switch to turn it on. When you click it, a little box will appear that says "turn on" when it's off and "turn off" when it's on.

But maybe you hadn't fully set machine up yet.

Try checking the following to see if any of these steps were missed.

On a "hooked up" computer, Google "digital gadgets.com". There find "Sylvania Products". Then click on "7 inch netbook support" and follow directions inputing to the 7" netbook as you go.

For item # 4, you find your "hot spot" name (on the 7" netbook) and click "connect".

For item # 5, you may have to call your Internet Service Provider (Charter, AT&T or whoever you pay for your internet) in order to get your "network key" fill that in (on the 7" netbook) and then click "OK".

Next (on the 7" netbook) be sure you go to "Start", "Settings", "Control Panel", "Internet Options", "General" and complete "user agent (requires browser restart" by selecting:
"Default (same as windows XP)" or
"Same As Pocket PC" or
"Windows CE".

I selected "default" and was off and running.

Still looking for answers on connecting internet to 7 inch netbook

If your trying to get on the internet with a wireless connection.and running WINDOWS, .and I am assuming you DO have a wireless router all set up and configured to broadcast the signal (not hidden) ....first we have to determine if the problem is at the router or at the laptop AND at what point its getting stuck ... so first try this

try resetting the router (disconnect the power to it for a few minutes) next --be sure the wifi switch is enabled on the netbook---next---go to CONTROL PANEL>NETWORK CONNECTIONS--right click oin your wifi card and choose properties--highlight INTERNET PROTOCOL and choose properties and be sure "OPTAIN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY" is checked--Does the laptop "SEE" the router?
You will need your SSID to logon to the router(internet)
this is a link to a troubleshooting flow-chart

If this was helpful, please indicate so, if not -comment back so we can dig further to resolve this.

Cannot hook to internet, error is PPPoE access not available

PPPOE is your internet DSL service. Are you subscribing to a service? If you are, use the manual that came with your computer and follow the instructions for connecting to your modem. If you are and you have a wireless modem, you need to call your internet provider and ask them to guide you through the setup of your wireless device. It takes several minutes, but they are usually very good with instructions. I can not do it for you.

Thank you for using FixYa.
