Question about Projection Televisions

1 Answer

Hitachi 53" blue distortion

I have replaced both the red and blue ICs and the 1.8 and 3.3 resistors and I also had the whole board checked for resistance and continuaty but the blue is still distorted at the top and bottom toward the center. I tried lining up the blue manually using the remote but still limited to how much I can line-up the horizontal line. Do you have any other suggestions that I should do or look for. I appreciate all your help.

Thanks,
Gil

The model # of my tv is 53UWX10BA.

Would be possible for you to send me a diagram of the convergence circuit board in pdf format. I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks.

    Slinteriors,

All the resistors checked out fine with the exception of RK54 it was reading 2.9 ohm and it looks like its burnt so I replaced it. After I put everything back together, the tv was working fine. With the tv on about 5 minutes, the picture started to wiggle out and it went blank. The red led on the power switch started to blink constantly along with DP11 and DP35 green led's on the Deflection PWB. DP23 green led and DP06 red led (Deflection PWB) stayed lit did not blink and when I turned the power off, DP23 and DP06 went dim and darker at the same time. D912 green led on the Power Supply PWB is off even with the tv power on. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated and as always, thank you very much for all the help you have provided me.

It's still doing the same thing.

  • gilcurameng Jul 10, 2008

    Slinteriors,

I disconnected the bridge between the convergence board and the deflextion board (PDKP) and the tv powers up. Also, with all the wires including all the bridge connected and the blue IC taken off the convergence board the tv powers up. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Gil

  • gilcurameng Jul 10, 2008

yeah, they all checked out fine with the exception of RK 54 which was reading 2.9 ohm. the diagram calls for 1.5 I replaced it with a 1.8, could that be the problem?

  • gilcurameng Jul 19, 2008

I have changed the 1.8 resistor to 1.5 and checked the rest of the resistors that you suggested. With everything connected, when I turn the power on it powers up but has no picture. DP23 green led on the deflection board is not lit. Please help.

    Thanks

Check these 6 resistors, they will have to have 1 side lifted out of circuit by unsoldering them, But if these resistors are out by 5% the convergence wont work. They cannot be checked in circuit. they have to have the one side unsolderd and lifted from circuit. They are RK42 3.3 ohm, RK46 1.8 ohm, RK50 2.7 ohm, RK54 1.5 ohm, RK58 3.3 ohm, RK62 2.2 ohm. These are all 1 watt 5% metal film resistors. One of them must be open.

Un plug the 3 convergence yoke plugs to take the convergence circuits out of the equation and try to power up the set. If it powers up, there is still a problem in the convergence circuits. Let me know what happens after you unplug the convergence yokes.

Okay, the convergence circuits are intact. Evidently it has to be a power supply problem. I would check the low voltage regulators first, then move on to the vertical and horizontal outputs next.

if the set powers up with the blue convergence plug unplugged you have a short in the Blue convergence circuit. Did you unsolder one end of each resistor that I listed earlier and check them with one side lifted from circuit?

yes it could be as 1.8 ohm is too much resistance for the circuit. It needs to be the 1.5 ohm

Yes,but the front that not what u wanted to be open. The back of the tv that what u wanted to be open. That where the tv convergence board is,that the board require reparing.Yes,if U have all the tools and can do basic soldering works too like take out desoldering ICS take it out of a circuit board and resoldering ICS on put in onto a circuit board and also desoldering/resodering like take out small components parts and replace with new small components parts onto a circuit board?Yes?The tv convergence board must require replaces like 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all of it resistors too.To fixed the tv convergence board to solved the tv convergence pictures problems.Tries websites like Tvrpairworld.com,Tvrepairkits.com to buy a whole complete convegence kit belong to ur tv make and model the kit also will have a dvd disc of tutoring job too.Or tries tvs shops will cost u like $300-350 for parts and labors.

Red line

The Convergence Circuit has failed. The Convergence ICs probably need to be replaced. There may also be a burnt resistor that would also be replaced. They should be replaced as a pair. The ICs needed are as shown. STK392-110, STK392-120, or STK392-150. If you are not comfortable trying to repair the set, call a Hitachi Professional.
I hope this helps,

did you replace the six convergence resistors with the ICs? as Hitachi recommends replacing the six resistors when the ICs are replaced as the old ICs can harm the resistors and they will need replacement.

DP23 LED not lit on deflection board no picture on tv

Good Day, Gil;
Your problem is in deflection circuit (115+v) check these: FP05, DP15, Q777, QH01, TH01, T701, etc. BUT suspect C707 1k pfd, 2kv, and check all the pico fuses (brown) 2" to the right of cap. Good Luck, big IRISH.

I would change both ICs STK392-110 and also the 3.3ohm 1 watt resistors and the 1.8 ohm 1 watt you would need 2 of each resistor. Then your convergence would be new again. You can get replacement ICs and resistors at the following link with free shipping and free instalation instructions with pictures.

Hitachi 43FDX11B television Ghosting

I had the same problem on my Hitachi rear projection TV 53FDX20B made in Mexico. The blue convergence problem. Blue focus had shifted and appeared like a blue ghost image. I followed the step by step intructions from the fixya site. First Replaced the two STK 392-110 ICs and turned on the tv. No change. Then I went looking for the bad resistor. There was one resistor RK50 (2.7 ohm, 1Watt capacity) which is attached not right close to the printed circuit board surface but was well raised up from the board. The bands on the resistor were a little discolored. I replaced that one and turned on the tv. The convergence problem was solved. Thanks for the step by step instrucitons on your site.
