Question about Dell 962 Photo All-In-One InkJet Printer

My Dell 962 printer only prints blank pages.

I received this second hand from my friend. I downloaded all drivers and firmware directly from dell's support site. I'm running Microsoft Vista (if that makes a difference). I have even tried printing the allignment page, but even that comes out blank. I've tried scanning and printing, or even printing directly from my computer. No matter what I try, it comes out blank. They are not new cartridges, so there are no guards in place to remove. What could the problem be? Help!

The ink is dry.

Try repeatly going through a cleaning cycle.

If not, remove all ink cartridges and pour some 100% Alcohol where the cartridge is and leave it there for 1 hour.

Afterwards, go through a few more cleaning cycle.
Make sure you have spare ink.

Dell's download page for the 962 is here. You can find software for Windows XP, and 32- and 64-bit Vista. They don't have software for Windows 7. You can try the Vista drivers which may work, but this printer may not be compatible with Windows 7.

Dell 3300 Wireless Printer adapter has always been a hard nut to crack. To begin with, completely remove the printer drivers from your computer using the utility http://ftp.us.dell.com/printer/R166248.zip .Then download and save the latest version of your printer drivers and the wireless adapter utility from the support website. Use this file for the installation rather than the CD that was shipped along with the printer. Use the link: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=&SystemID=PRN_ALL_A962 . Reset the wireless printer adapter by disconnecting all cables, pressing and holding the Reset button at the back of the adapter using a paper clip for almost 10 seconds and plugging in the power cord back in while the reset button is still pressed. All lights will flash for a while and then the wireless light will go stable. Go to www.dell.com and top right type in 926 printer; it will bring you to the next page, click on the first result: Install Dell 926 All-In-One Priter Drivers. This should help you. Follow all the directions exactly!

Can't print


Step 1. Go to Control Panel--Windows updates; click Check for Updates--Windows is sending updates for different printers. If there is one install it. See if that takes care of the problem.
If not, go to Step 2.

Step 2.---Turn on the Printer---go to Control Panel---Device Manager. Under device manager look for any yellow exclamation point, if there are any under "Imaging device" or Portable Devices, then there is something wrong with the driver. Go to www.dell.com at the top type in 926 printer, the next page click on the first result "Install Dell 926 All-In-One Printer Drivers. Follow the directions one by one, start with the first and work your way down.

There is a firmware update release 1/6/2008 for the Dell 926
Go to www.dell.com home page. Go to Support and Help in the middle of the screen, put the cursor over it and click Drivers and Downloads; next screen identify your model: Select Model-Printer; select you product line--click on Printer; next page Select you Product Model 926 (Personal All-In-One) click on it;
then confirm Under Printers click the plus sign and it will give you 4 options, choose the firmware option. DO NOT INSTALL THIS FIRMWARE UNDER YOU HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING ELSE. SOMETIMES FIRMWARE CAN MAKE DEVICES INOPERABLE.

Dell 946 AIO printer won't stop beeping after firmware update attempt


Same thing happened to me....yesterday I went online at www.dell.com to download the latest firmware & driver for my Dell 946 Printer. After downloading the firmware the printer went haywire and is rendered useless. It emits beeps and the green power light will stay lit then flash every 3 seconds or so. There is no read-out on the lcd display.
I phoned Dell only to be told I should not have downloaded the firmware and that Dell does not recommend downloading firmware. If that is the case then why is the firmware listed on the Dell site with instructions to do so? I was advised that no support could be offered because the printer is out of warranty and was told to uninstall the printer and re-install. I have tried everything, including uninstalling printer, unplugging printer, etc. and nothing has helped. I have researched online and note that this is a recurrent problem. This problem is noted in the forums section of Dell.com - I have followed directions listed in the forum section of Dell.com as noted (see below websites) but this has not fixed the problem....

Since this seems to be a known problem and the problem is actually caused by downloading firmware from the Dell site I feel it is an injustice not to offer some type of support to rectify the problem. I have always bought Dell products and advised others to do so, but with this problem I feel that I will be changing my brand that I purchase.

I will be contacting Consumer Reports - I feel this warrants some type of recall!!

Hi Christy,

The issue you are experiencing with your printer i.e error 2200 is related to "Scan Carrier Stall " I believe the steps mentioned below will fix the issue,

1. Unplug the power cord from the wall socket.
2. Disconnect the power supply from the back of the printer.
3. Wait 15 seconds.
4. Reconnect the power supply to the back of the printer.
5. Plug the power cord back into the wall socket.
  1. Go to www.support.dell.com.
  2. Click on Drivers & Downloads.
  3. Under Option 2: Select a Product as printers .
  4. Locate the printer(s) 962 printer and click Go.
  5. Select an Operating System that is installed in your computer then choose downloads and look for Firmware.
  6. Download and install the firmware, then restart the computer and the printer, however please make sure that you do not restart your computer and the printer when the download and the installation is in progress.
