To avoid confusion i`ll give you the senerios.Your washing machine was NOT in use and somehow it just fills with water over the day ,slowly filling up and never stops-this is the inlet valve u/s and water seeps, drip drip until the machine leaks-replace valve only answer.Or ,the machine is in use and water doesn`t stop filling up either on wash or rinses-can be valve not shutting off because valve is faulty, similar to above, this is rare but not unknown,or much more likely the air trap/filter is blocked up which is not telling the pressure switch to cut the power to the valve with the correct amount of water.IF the filter/air trap-a rubber hose with a large hose clip and a white looking chamber sprouting from the hoses r/h/side- is at the rear of the machine(to the right of the motor looking from the rear of the machine) this is where you should look first ,if your filter is at the front (r/h/s) i don`t know the answer to this part of the question.

My Sears series 80 washer fills till it is overflowing and doesnt shut off water flow, it was overflowing onto floor this morning, it is full to the rim now, and wont drain or do anything when it is turned...

The usual arrangement is there are 2 electrical water inlet valves, one for Hot and 1 for Cold. These valves are turned on by the timer, and remain on until the water level switch turns them on, and allows the washer to then run. It sounds like this water level switch is bad. This switch should be in the panel above the top of the washer, and has a rubber/plastic tube that goes toward the washer drum. It is also possible that the rubber tube is off or blocked. (if the water inlet valve is stuck open, turning the washer off will NOT stop the water).

Good Luck,
Bill

Hotpoint H2O error

Please check on the water flow to the drum, if the flow is low or if the inlet is choked the water flow in the set time limit can be low and so could trip.
secondly it can be due to problems in the level sensor, try and see if the pressure switch works outside.
Finally check on the program controller unit once again to see the triping. check the door switch for loose connection.

I have a hotpoint Ultima WT741, and it doesnt stop filling up whilst in use on a wash/spin and says H2O, and then overflows out the top of the washing machine. Whats the matter with it?

If the flow at the inlet valve is good and then the water comes into the system. Now if the WATER LEVEL SENSOR - normally a pressure switch- does not activate at the preset/chosen level to give the signal to the program controller to switch off the INLET VALVE , it will overflow. So the fault is the water level sensor and showing the error H2O.

Make sure that a fault in any of the cycle will relate to the specified action, so check the command from the program module and then the executing device be it the valve or motor or pump.

I have a hotpoint ultima WT741 flashing F-10 can you tell me the problem please

Hi,

F10 is a pressure switch not sensing error. Basically its a filling problem.
What you need to do is make sure the fill hose isn't kinked up at the back stopping it from filling fast enough.

If the hose is OK then take off the fill hose and aim it into a bucket and turn the water tap on. Then from there see what the water pressure is like there.

If its weak then you need the water pressure sorting out.

If the pressure is fine then you will need a multimeter and test the water valves on top and see if any of them are faulty.

But the F10 error code is a filling issue.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

My Maytag top load washer model # mavt236aww seems to stick on the rinse cycle. along with that the cold water does not shut off, it continues to fill the drum and overflows. Please help.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

This is symptomatic of a malfunctioning cold water control valve. Sorry but it needs replacing and a service call to confirm that it is not something else- like the control board not feeding the correct voltage to the valve ;-0(

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

HOTPOINT WASHER OVERFLOWS ON ALL CYCLES

Hi,
This is most likely a damaged pipe going to the low pressure sensor. This sensor determines when to turn water off by the pressure built up in a tube. If there is a damaged pipe - it wil overflow.

Turn off and disconnect machine, then remove access pannel to inspect all small bore pipes for damage. Check pressure valve for correct operation.

If it leaks at times other than filling, and water level seems ok, then it could be a damaged top or bottom seal that needs identifying and replacing.
If it leaks constantly it could equally be a damaged rubber pipe between drum and pump.
You really need to remove an access pannel - and just observe operation without putting your fingers in thereto spot it.
