Question about Samsung HP-T4254 42 in. Plasma Television

1 Answer

I have the same problem described above. I followed the information above in the best solution and did a visual inspection of the capacitors. I did not observe any bulging or raised tops. Is there a multi meter test that I can do to check each capacitor?

Capacitors are only one problems, viewing capacitors inspections are best and easiest ways.U want to test it with a multi Voltmeter look for capacitors Microferet and voltges each one, just test it.U have no skills or trouble shooting experience in electronics devices.Well no amount testing of capacitors, will not solved the tv problems, could be any things in the power supply board is slicely variable voltages could cause power problems.Try website like Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

Have same tv HP 42 plasma, red light is on but no image or sound. all I can hear is a click sound when I first plugged it and another one followed few seconds after. what could be the problem?

Many LED TVs and other electronics have bad capacitors on their power supply boards. You can visually inspect them by opening the TV and looking for capacitors with bulging tops. If tou see any, replace them all in the power board section. Check to see if your TV is still under warranty first though.

How do you tell if a capacitor is bad?

You can visually inspect a capacitor. If you see any bulging or leaking then it's bad. Some capacitors will not show physical signs so you would need a capacitor tester in that case.

Have a lg 42pc3dv plasma tv that made a loud pop sound and the sound stayed on but picture went black. have already had the z-board replaced about 8 months before. could this be the same problem or...

Ok, I'll take a S.W.A.G. (scientific wild a** guess) at this:
1. The "pop" you heard was most likely a capacitor or short venting its self. I would not be surprised if you find the cover of the capacitor completely separated from the base. Even though the "capacitor plague" is supposedly over the are still millions of them "floating around".
2. From your brief description, I gather you have had indications of this problem before. The the previous Z-board failure was most likely brought on by an unstable power fluctuation ( the weakest link in the chain fails first ).
3. Upon inspection of the visual damaged component, trace back to the video power distribution section/card and perform voltage/amperage/frequency test. I suspect you will find power filtering/stabilization problems. The cure ( subsequent to board replacement ) probably filtering capacitors, baring other heat/component damage.
That's about the best I can do with the information at hand. If it is helpful ( the correct solution ) feel free to send me "a cup of internet coffee and a donut".
Sincerely
Doc Michael

Hi to Welcomejee -- Here's hoping all is well with you and that you are dry and vertical and breathing frequently and have no intention to get into politics. How best to check electrolytic capacitors...

Hi Frank // Gramps // Renthelp // BDCD928E
I'm just fine, Thanks God. How about you?
Capacitor should be checked out of circuit with capacitance meter if you do not see any thing wrong with it through visual inspection like puffy top or leakage of liquid at bottom or shrink plastic cover etc.
DLP lamp visual check is that is it broken or intact, rest of test is to swap lamp in similar working tv.
Let me know if I missed any thing.
Good luck.

Powes ups then dies

Do a visual inspection of the Electrolytic Capacitors on the motherboard first.

Then check the power supply with a power supply tester, (About $15), OR replace the power supply with a known, good one for a test.

I'm having the same issue with a netgear wgr614 v.5 router. this router has worked just fine for years, and now suddenly the wireless light will not stay on for longer than 10 seconds. none of the usual...

Being that you can get a router anywhere from 20-40$ even wireless n routers are now 40$. You can look at buy.com tigerdirect.com or newegg.com as a reference. I would just purchase a new router. I have several routers because they seem to be prone to issues. I have even sneezed in the direction of a router and broke it. Time is money and if you spend 2 hours thats probably the price of a router depending on what your time is worth.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
