We have a Moen tub/shower faucet and when turned to the hot water position no water comes out at all. We feel like this is an issue with the valve but aren't sure how to replace it.

The valve has a cartridge that controls hot and cold water mixing. We have a Moen tub/shower - 21-t2opdcnl._sl500_aa300_.jpg the valve at one time had a smaller spindle built into the valve to prevent scolding. this item is located in the right hand side of the valve behind the plate next to the cold shut off valve. there is also a hot shut off valve located on the right hand side of the valve. Most times it is the cartridge itself and this can be found at all hardware stores.
here is a link that shows ALL THE TUB/ SHOWER VALVES PARTS.

Upon installation of a one handle Moen shower valve, water flows immediately in the off position (6 o'clock position) then reduces as valve turns counter clockwise until fully off at 12 o'clock, then comes...

you need to adjust the little gear like..plastic part under handle..plus hot water must be on so that the pressure is balance..the cartridge also needs to be adjusted so water is off on off position

& One Handle Tub & Shower Faucet : i have a moen shower faucet and i get not hot wate...

these valves can be adjusted by removing the handle and adjusting the white gear that regulates the hot and cold that come out, try going more to one way if it gets colder then go the other way.

Only warm water from the tub/shower

You can cap the lines at the tub faucet to rule out tub faucet. It maybe mixing there.

Faucet may be bad also the safety stop will alow you to change water temp it can be tricky to adjust water temp.

Cold faces left
Hot faces right

Once in the position screw pastic knob back on.

I have a new moen single handle shower faucet that is only giving one temp of water (cold). Only if I have it on very slow will I feel hot water. Any idea how to fix

Did the hot water shut off get turned back on fully after the change? Is the hot water line kinked under the sink? Is the hot water shut off valve working?

Moen Bath Tub Faucet

Hi varn4620,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your question is: You had to replace the faucet in the tub due to a broken plastic piece in valve stem. Bought a Moen ripped the wall out and put new faucet in. Went good untill we turned the water on and the shower rained on us. Tightened everything you could find to tighten .Every time the water is turned on the shower rains. Can this be fixed or is the faucet broken?

Is this new faudet a single handle? If so I"ve had this experience also. Most of the time it's because the guts were not lined up properly at the factory. You may have to play with it a bit.
Turn off the water and take the handle off and remove the sleave, remove and rotate the guts. Try 90' at a time. Turn water on to try it. Useually one of the other 3 positions will be right. The correct position is there, but it may take time to find it.
