SOURCE: verification and signal problems

I am having the same issues. My D-LINK adapter can't even see the network after clean install. It tells me wireless connection is unavailable and it does not see the NetGear Router even when letting windows handle it. Doing a Connection Wizard it sees nothing. Light is on dongle. I have tested the network with my wireless laptop and it works fine. Used static address after a bit of tinkering. Is my dongle caput!

SOURCE: cannot connct xbox 360 wireless adaptor

Your XBOX 360 adapter should automatically be assigned an address by the router's DHCP server. I think you may be having a problem with your wireless configuration. Check the wireless settings on your router to confirm that it is indeed setup for WEP. If it is setup for WEP on bothe the router and the XBOX and the key is typed in correctly on the XBOX it should work. If it still doesn't however, disable the wireless security on your router, then restart your XBOX and see if it will connect without WEP. Many devices will have problems over WEP and not connect at all. If it connects fine with no security enabled then we will know that was the problem and I would sugest changing the security to WPA.

It is possible that the Xbox will be unable to pick up the wireless signal being transmitted by your gateway because the signal is too weak.

The connection speed of your internet has nothing to do with the strength of the signal. The best way to test this would be to try to connect to your wireless internet on a laptop while sitting near the xbox. If you cannot, you will know that the signal isn't powerful enough to reach that location.

There are three common options to amplifying your signal if necessary.

1) Purchase a High-gain antenna for your wireless gateway
2) Purchase a wireless repeater
3) Purchase a new router/gateway with a longer range capability. A "Wireless N" enabled router would be optimal for this application.

On the setup for your wireless network through your router, you have to allow access for other devices. Your internet provider should also be able to walk you through this process as they did for me when I had the exact same problem.

Internet

First you need an internet connection, wireless or network cable.
For wireless:
You need the XBox 360 wireless adaptor.
Follow instructions to plug it in, then turn on console.
Go to the Dashboard.
Go to Console Settings.
Then Network Settings.
Then Search for a Network.
When you find your network, select it.
If you have a network code, such as WEP, enter it when prompted.
Now, whenever you turn on your XBox and have the wireless adaptor plugged in, it will automatically connect to your network.

For cable:
Plug in the cable to your console at the back.
Then follow above steps if it doesn't automatically connect you.

To play with mates, you need to purchase an XBox Live Gold Membership.
To do this, you must create an account after connecting to the internet.

Connecting to x box live

Yes. You can go into the network settings on your Xbox once it is plugged in and set it up easily. It should recognize your network on it's own, and you just have to tell it to choose it. If you have any WEP security on your wireless network, you will have to enter the code into the wireless network settings on your Xbox.

Put the wpa key in for xbox360, says it's connected but green light not coming on my xbox wireless adapter. if i reset the belkin will it pick up my xbox?

maybe. do you have internet connection in your house? if so the wireless adapter should pick up the signal. i myself have xbox 360 live and use a wireless adapter. It also might just be your adapter. lots of people use the ethernet cables that came free with the xbox and plug them into a modem. connection is more fullproof then wireless.
