Question about Dryers

1 Answer

I have the duet whirlpool gas dryer - model #GGW9200LW1 and the barrel is making a lot of noise. It seems like one of the inside little cap is loose and the clothes aren't drying. Its taking too many cycles to dry light clothing, much less jeans and towels. I tried the dry cycle and then the timed cycle for drying. It seems like the dryer isn't hot enough. I cleaned all filters and even vaccumed the bottom part of the machine in front with all the lint. I even changed the gas hose. The other long hose that leads to the outside was checked as well. What else do I need to check before I call someone to service my machine? Thanks!

Why is my dryer barrel making a lot of noise?

Most of the time there is a lot of dirt (sand) in the front ring.

When a tickling noise it is probably the bearing.

I have a whirlpool duet gas dryer model ggw9200lw1. when i press the start button it clicks once but wont run.

First, check the door switch. Push and release it by hand and you should hear a click. If no sound, replace the door switch with this part.
If the switch is ok, press the cancel button on the machine. Then do this. press and hold the start button for 2 seconds then release wait 2 seconds and press and hold again for 2 seconds continue this pattern until the dryer goes into test mode. You will see all the lights on the control light up. press each button on the control one at a time 3 times each. (Do not press the cancel button) until the dryer begins to run. When the dryer starts to run then press the cancel button. Then your machine should function properly.

My Whirlpool duet dryer was moved by the painters and when moved back makes a thundering noise when turned on coincident with the drum roation (ta...THUMP, ta...THMUP). Any ideas?

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

After reading your question, it seems that the belt has come loose causing this thumping sound. You'll have to get the belt back in place so that it works. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Whirlpool gas dryer makes a lot of noise

This sounds like the support rollers are either loose or worn out.

Turn off the power, shut off the gas, pull the unit away from the wall carefully, and remove the back of the dryer.

Look around the perimeter of the drum and you will see the rollers. There should be 3. If they wobble or the rubber on the rollers is worn down, they are bad and need replacing. While you're in there, inspect the motor, belt, and drive assembly to be sure it's solid.

An appliance shop or parts outlet can usually provide these parts for your unit.

Whirlpool Duet dryer not drying like it used to

If your duet isn't heating properly and you have taken care of the lint problem then you could have one of two problems. Either you have a bad heating element or you have a bad fuse or temperature sensor.
If your dryer is not heating at all then it is most likely the fuse or temp sensor. If it is heating and just not enough it is probably a bad heating element.
Both problems would require a repairman to come and fix normally, however if you believe it is the heating element that can usually be replaced by the homeowner without too much trouble. Just make sure to ask where it is located from whatever place you but the new element from.

My whirlpool duet gas dryer (model ggw9200lw1) is taking too long

There is a rare chance that the gas supply is clogged. Dealing with gas pipes is dangerous business, don't fool with it unless you are experienced with plumbing. After checking a gas pipe, do a bubble check for leaks with dish soap from a sponge or sprayer. There are small filters and traps placed here and there in the plumbing of some units. They are similar to the ones on a washing machine hose, but smaller.
