Question about Sony STR-DG700 6.1 Channels Receiver

Open Question

When I try to do auto calibration, I get error 20, meaning that one or both front speakers are not connected properly. Both speakers are connected properly and when I ignore the message my volume level is really low than usual. Can someone help

You don't say what input on the Sony is connected to which output on the Karaoke machine (what model?).

Assuming you want the Sony to do the playback from your karaoke machine...

Take the K's audio output on an RCA cable pair to any of the Sony's available analog inputs, for example one of the connectors labeled: CD, TV or SAT. My guess is SAT is unused in 90% of homes.

Select the appropriate source on the Receiver and rock on. You could even play with some of the DSP surround simulation modes to hear the K through all of your speakers.

SOURCE: My RX-V490 Amp. has no audio from Centre speaker.

Is your center mode set to "Phantom" instead of "Normal" or "Wide"? That would split the mono Center channel program and mix it equally with the programs for both front speakers so your brain would believe it's in the center.

SOURCE: Volume really low, even when turned right up

So the speakers and the individual amp channels work so that lets out the obvious big hardware items.

This is starting to sound like an obscure setting was set or changed by mistake.

It would be nice to figure out what that is/was in case it happens again but you may eventually have to resort to resetting the receiver to factory defaults and start over by holding the1/0 button for 5 seconds.

Try differnt speakers, if they do not produce sound, amp channels may be blown and then you need to take it to a shop.

To stop auto calibration in toshiba color mfd

Better not to turn off the calibration, otherwise it will cause other errors.

If your colour printing is less than 5% ration, perform following. Turn the code 08-2692 "Prevention of color toner low density / ON/OFF setting" to ON, and then set number of sheets to be judged at the code 08-2693 "Prevention of color toner low density / Judged
number of sheets setting".
08-2693 u can put higher value such as 20 or above to delay the colour calibration.

Hold in the Feed button for 4-5 seconds, which causes the printericon1.png to attempt to "Auto-calibrate." If that doesn't solve it, then slide out the Media Sensor (green plastic bar that sticks out over the labels) about 1 inch from all the way in ("in" = left if looking from front). Then press Feed to clear errors. If still get same error, then look for piece of label or ribbon stuck in that error - ok to blow out with canned air. Then try holding in Feed again for 4-5 seconds to Auto-calibrate again.

No surrond, it wants me to connect calibration mic, what duse that mean. I put t all front on the speakers then thy all come on.

Usually the rear speakers dont have audio unless something goes from front to back. You could also try some of the different sound fields to get a simulated surround effect. Digital sources will give you the most accurate sound field. Try a bluray dvd player. Hope this helps.

My S606 developed a problem whilst playing. Sound especially from front towers has turned flat. Speakers are under warranty. Could this be a tweeter issue

Try doing an auto-calibration through your amp to check that all the speakers are correctly connected, if they are then try play around with the EQ. otherwise, chances are it's a manufacturing fault

6140 will not complete the AUTO SETUP

If you would like to bypass the auto setup which is apparently the root cause, use a test cd/dvd for your test tones. The auto setup while convenient is not the optimal way to get the best result as the test tones it uses are bandwidth limited pink noise. If you would like to use the auto calibrate however, it's likely needing repair to do so.

I HAVE A SONY RECIEVER STR-DH700, I get no sound

make sure the FM antenna is connected and in a good place then check to see if the A-B speaker selector is selected properly.check to see that the sound field is set properly, My 800 allows for several different options and if your speaker wires are reversed or not in the correct position front left at front left etc it will not send the signal to those speakers. try using the TEST TONE feature if you have one it will send a signal to each speaker in sequence (LF< C< RF<in order) it will go all the way around to see if they are connected properly, that way you can tell if they are connected at all or in the wrong spot on the back interface. I dont know if that is what you meant by AUTO CAL, but that is a seperate feature when you use the connected mic to determine range, height and distance to the position in the room you are most likely to be seated for optimal sound.
