Question about Minolta Office Equipment & Supplies

I have a minolta Dimage scan dual II. This had worked correctly until recently when it gave up. There is power coming into it, but this is only seen in terms of an internal light. It is not recognised by the software (even after re-installing). There is no indication of power from the scanner motor either.

Check if the cable is working, if cable and software are fine, the printer is faulty.

    Try also installing the Minolta on a different computer, sometime older corrupted drivers can leave behind files that prevent the printers from working.
    If you do not have another computer available try at least testing the printer on a different port.
    If the printer is defective, and it starts up but is not communicating with the computer it can be a fault in printer port or on printer electronics (pcb).

For now you should be able to turn off the MAIN power and then turn it back on to reset the code. Sometimes you may have to do this a couple of times. To resolve this permanently you will need a Minolta trained tech to come out and perform a modification to you PWB-C circuit board. It needs a capacitor replaced. Fairly simple operation but a common code I have seen many times and thus Minolta has a technical publication on it with the modifications needed. For now tho just cycle the power until it comes up to ready and then it will run fine. It is only a cold start issue and is worse if the machine is in a cool office environment.

L1 or L1-00 indicates Scanner movement failure. The scanner is the part under the glass that lights up and moves back and forth. So if you lift up the feeder so you can see the glass, turn the machine off for a few seconds then back on. Watch the movement of the scanner. It should move right and inch or two then back to the left. If all goes well the copier should come to ready. Lay a piece of paper on the glass and press the print button to watch the scanner movement. If it binds up or does not scan correctly there are 2 possibilities.
1) your scanner lock is engaged and is preventing the scanner from moving. Check the clear plastic dial located under the far left upper side of the copier, near where the paper exits the machine. Make sure it is in the unlocked position.
2) Your scanner rail is dirty and dry. This rail can be seen under the glass towards the back of the copier. The scanner rides on this rail. It is very common for these to get dirty and for the grease to dry up causing the scanner to freeze up on the rail. The glass must be removed and the rail cleaned and lubricated.
Just power off then on the copier to reset.

All the comments I've seen made regarding similar symptoms to your were related to the setup of the device. Apparently the device is very finicky and I have heard many people say that the installation process for the scanner has caused a lot of people issues.

From website:
  • Dimage Scan must be executed before turning on the scanner for the first time.
I suspect that the device won't be properly recognised by the system without the software already being installed and configured before the device is attached. I would remove the device, uninstall any trace of it from your system, and try again with a fresh install.

Pleas check that you inserted the K toner correctly, check, that transfer belt and/or drum cartridge is installed correctli. also check that 2transfer roller, its one big black roller.
