Question about Dell Inspiron M5030 Laptop

1 Answer

Dell Inspiron M5030 frequently locks up when using word, internet explorer, onenote, etc. Task manager takes a long time to start, will not end a program that is not responding. Have to do a hardware shut off; will not reboot, but hangs with a black screen after login. Can reboot in safe mode or safe mode w/networking at present. I have installed MS Office Enterprise 2010; and Spyware Doctor w/Antivirus. Also have iTunes. Service tag # B3DM7N1 Express service code: 24148875565

I would make sure it is up to date asfar as Windows Updates are concerned, check the internal RAM, (Press F5 whilst booting and run the utility) and download the latest BIOS and drivers from Dell.com
Hope that helps.

Can you check in your CMOS to see if you have the system password enabled? If so you may need to disable it.

My dell inspiron m5030 laptop goes to my background screen with nothing to choose.wat happened?

They are hiding behind background screen and discussing between services in background for conspiracy against you. Not really as it was, windows is processing a start up item, if it really doesn't load anything perhaps your explorer is stop working or taking a longer time to load, try pressing Ctrl+alt+del, open task manager, click on "Processes" tab and try look for "explorer.exe", if it doesn't show there you go to "File" menu and click "new task (run)" and type explorer, if you can find explorer.exe in task manager, right click to it and select "end task" then after it gone repeat step before.

What is debugging?

First I will suggest you to update your display drivers to avoid black screen
Just go the site of your Laptop manufacture. Once there enter the model number or service tag no of the laptop then request driver (usually found in the web site's "Support Section"). There you should be able to find all the drivers for your model laptop
After that Open task manager and close any unnecessary processes running in background
Click start>Run.. Type msconfig>enter>Start Up. Uncheck the boxes for the programs that you think you may not use often
Uninstall unnecessary programs (Games, crapware, toolbars, etc.)
Let me know if it helps you.

I have somehow messup my Dell XPS M140. It starts normally, goes to the desktop, everything but the background disappears and it just stays that way. Anyone have any suggestions? I am just starting out...

Windows explorer is the process that runs the start menu, desktop icons, and many other things. It is likely that this process is being ended for some reason, possibly due to a virus. To restart this process, press ctrl+alt+delete on the keyboard, go into task manager, click new task, type explorer.exe, and click ok. I would recommend doing a full system virus scan after this to eliminate the problem in the future. Good luck!

Goto windows update, and make sure you have the latest version of Microsoft .net framework.. (also any other service packs for ie7 that you don't have, along with security updates)

Most of those sites use the .net platform, and that may cause issues if it is not up to date.

Other then that, you might try to re-install IE7, or, revert back to Ie6
