I got a sylvania netbook for christmas, and am very disappointed. i'm not new to computers and i'm no dummy. i've followed the instructions TO A T!!!! and still it will not allow me to get on the internet. it will tell me that i'm connected however internet still will not work. please help!! (it says its connected to local interenet if that helps.)

I'm reading that it has a windows operating system. In this case, I would open setting and search for the "factory reset" option within that folder. Otherwise, you can just use the general desktop search to search for the "factory reset" option and choose that and follow the instructions on screen to activate the factory reset. But I would ask that you back up any data first because all data on the device will be deleted.

Relax, you have over six months until Christmas. Just follow the instructions in the manual, especially with regard to the picture size and dimensions.

hopefully this will take you into the repair options
i useually choose the last known good configuration ist
then repair my computer if that one don,t work

To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router's wireless settings configured and also the wireless cards in all the laptops and or computers needs to be configured with the router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.

If your trying to get on the internet with a wireless connection.and running WINDOWS,(many problems with LINUX) .and I am assuming you DO have a wireless router all set up and configured to broadcast the signal (not hidden) ....first we have to determine if the problem is at the router or at the laptop AND at what point its getting stuck ... so first try this

try resetting the router (disconnect the power to it for a few minutes) next --be sure the wifi switch is enabled on the netbook---next---go to CONTROL PANEL>NETWORK CONNECTIONS--right click oin your wifi card and choose properties--highlight INTERNET PROTOCOL and choose properties and be sure "OPTAIN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY" is checked--Does the laptop "SEE" the router?
You will need your SSID to logon to the router(internet)

If you continue to have problem..indicate at what point in the flowchart it is getting stuck

try going to network places try disabling and enabling the icon which is for your network connection.If its wireless try disabling/enabling that..try going to device manager from computer reight click and try uninstall/install the ethernet/wireless adaptor drivers.

First reset the router (unplug for 5 minutes, then plug back in) wait 5 min then turn on netbook---Be sure the WIFI switch is enabled on the netbook--check the taskbar for the wifi icon

Are you connecting to a router? Yes, if it is wireless, you'll need to make sure that the router has internet connectivity. if other computers connected to the same router can connect with the internet then there's something wrong with your computer's network configuration. You can copy the network setting from a working computer connected to the same router such as the gateway IP address and proxy settings and use the same settings on your computer..

use the console to check for internet connectivity. Sometimes, virus may infiltrate browser internet connection so better check using RUN>CMD and type "ping yahoo.com"

Had the same problem with my Sylvania Netbook I purchased last week. Last night, I stopped by CVS that received a shipment early in the afternoon and purchased another. Powered on to wifi at first and it would not connect on internet. Clicked on little tv, pulled up my preferred connection and entered Network key. Shut down and restarted and it connected onto google!

My original Sylvania Netbook had the same settings in place and still would not connect - so I am returning it today for a refund - it was defective.
