My Callaway II ceiling fan transmitter shows that air is being pushed down. However, the ceiling fan is actually pushing air upward.

If I recall, this fan has no external switches that can be operated - all of the fan and light functions are controlled by the remote alone. If this is indeed the case, there is little that can be done outside of hoping the problem is with the remote itself. If that is the case, replacing the remote is likely to be cheaper and less labor intensive - that is if you can find one.
From what I have read, this fan is no longer in production nor available for purchase. You may have luck bringing the remote to Home Depot - the main (possibly the exclusive) distributor of the Hampton Bay brand to see if they have fans on display that make use of remotes for fan and light control. If so, try to see if all your remote functions work. If you find that the reverse function no longer works - you should ask the sales associate about how to go about ordering a replacement remote. If the remote fails to work at all, you can 1) try a "shot in the dark" about ordering a an exact replacement remote - with the hopes that the remote itself is defective - rather than the paddle fan, or 2) start new by buying a new paddle fan with hardware switches for fan speed, direction and light operation AND a remote control module to perform a whole replacement of your existing paddle fan.
The "add on" remote control gives you many of the benefits of the remote only fan - but also provides a "back up" way to operate the fan should the remote or module fail. Had this been the style you have currently, you could operate the fan by hand until the remote and / or ceiling module was replaced.
