If the lens error wont be removed by gently opening the lens cover and nudging the lens left and right, well this is the Common Lens error (most consumers call it that way) this is not your fault the camera just does not hold that much.

to get this fixed

Contact http://usa.canon.com, and go to the support page, they'll ask you to print a form, and complete it. They also give you an address to send your camera, it's 100% free, the only thing you have to pay for it the shipping, which isn't expensive at all. You have to send it in to be serviced.

or just call them and let them know, they will walk you through getting it done still

good luck

When you say doesn't work, can you be more specific? Are you seeing a black screen? If so, have you tried pressing the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera?

The following blog outlines some repair options for a lens error. They won't work for all cases, but they're worth a try if the camera's no longer under warranty:

Technique on taking images of baseball cards

Greetings sandb27,

Your best route to avoid flash reflection on your cards is to find a lighting situation where you do not rely on flash. I would suggest a small handheld tripod to stabilize the camera and shooting without the flash. You might also try to use the Indoor Mode. Indoor Mode prevents camera shake blur and adjusts the white balance to preserve the subject's true color when working under tungsten or fluorescent lighting.

Thank You,
